Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me. I am interested in taking CLEP tests to get a BSBA Degree in Computer Information Systems at TESC. I was on their website, but it didn't give any specific information about which General Education classes, Required classes, and Electives i need to take to complete this degree. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Others on this site are better with the BSBA since I got a BA from TESC but you'll start with these links to piece together how to test out of some of the courses. You won't be able to complete the whole degree with CLEP though.
Degree plan: BSBA in Computer Information Systems Degree Program
CLEP matches at TESC: CLEP - College-Level Exam Program
DSST matches at TESC: DANTES
You'll also want to explore transfer credits from other schools, TECEP exams, and/or PLA. Each have benefits that work better for certain people. Other than that you're best starting point is to search this site (upper right) for TESC BSBA and note that outside of the electives for CIS the rest of the degree including the business core courses match up well with what others have done in the past.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

You should be aware TESC now requires 12 of the 18 credits required in the Area of Study to be upper level (300/400) credits for all BSBA degrees. The BSBA credit distribution guides on the TESC website do not reflect this and are outdated, as are many of the degree plans posted on this forum.

Since the business core for all of the BSBA programs is the same, I will post my test out plan for the BSBA in General Management.
Sanantone's BSBA General Management - Degree Forum Wiki
For the general education requirements, match up CLEPs and DSSTs to these courses.
General Education Courses
Intro to Programming can be taken at Penn Foster, or you can take C++ from Straighterline. They will be offering Java soon. Javaonline.org offers advanced Java courses that are NCCRS-approved. There is a DSST for Management Information Systems (upper level) and a TECEP for Networking Technologies (upper level). You can earn up to 4 free CIS credits from TEEX. You have to take all 3 of the courses in the Cyber Security for Everyone series to earn 2 credits and all 4 of the courses in the Cyber Security for IT Professionals series to earn another 2 credits. Cyber Security for IT Professionals has been evaluated as an upper level course by TESC. What will be hard to find outside of TESC courses is the Systems Analysis and Design course. Unless you take it at a community college, it will be UL regardless. With the DSST, TECEP, TEEX course, and Systems Analysis and Design, you will be 1 credit short of the UL requirement.

He can also take the Microsoft Server Virtualization Exam 74-409 to get another 2 upper-level credit.
Server Virtualization with Windows Server Hyper-V and System Center | Microsoft
The training is free by Microsoft and they also issue the certificate for free.
Microsoft Hyper-V | Take Your Virtualization Skills to the Next Level
I wanted to take the TEEX courses to get some free credits but later found out in response from TEEX that online program is only available to U.S. Citizens, regardless of their current location in the world.

It looks like this test is fairly new. Is it ACE-approved because I couldn't find it on the National Guide? Has TESC pre-approved this for credit?

I know someone who got 2 upper level credit from TESC for doing the 70-659 exam titled 'Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Virtualization exam.' It is indeed a fairly new exam by Microsoft which is simply an updated version of the Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Virtualization exam. I don have the official word for this same exact exam but I'm fairly positive TESC would approve it because it's the same thing but "newer". Anyways its always better to confirm with TESC.
