I will only take 4 or 5 more so it is great to know. I may take another one tomorrow. I don't know why I have put these off so long, something about them intimidated me. Now that I have started my fears seem silly.:o

Linda, just so you know we all go through it, I'm fighting the urge to drop Bus Stats, and I'm as close to being done as you can get. My wife hates this ALEK's program and how much time has been spent on it (over 100 hrs). I've broken a couple of promises I made to my daughters as far as playing w/them, they have been robbed of my time over the last 6 weeks, not to mention the 2 yrs of going for my BSL. And if I had a dog, he/she wouldn't like me right now. It made me review my plans and alter them. After talking to the director of the MBA program at Wilmington University, I realized life is too short to get worked up over classes that just don't fit me. Like you, "I have a dream" BUT I will alter it to fit. Sometimes, big eyes focus on too much, when that happens, it's time to put the blinders on. So, you are not alone.

My mother thinks if I am taking a course online it should not take as much time. She says don't they know you have other responsibilities. LOL
No matter how we do it going back to school has new and different challenges. I am trying to get that across to my 19 year old. He hates school for the most part it bores him. He is very bright, but somewhat lazy when it comes to school. I just wish I could make him understand that getting his degree ANY degree now when he is young and has less responsibilities is so much easier.

Maybe my problem is I make it look to easy for my family, they don't see the internal turmoil. Gary you need to take a break and go play with your daughters. I know you are doing this to give them a better life and you may have told them that. But all they will remember is the things you did with them. After the recent loss of our father the things my sister and I cherish the most are the memories of the little things we did together, a fishing trip to the local dock,letting me pick the color and watch as he made a doll playpen for me.

It really is the quality times when you give children special attention(which you may think is trivial)that means the most. So go take a break and make a special memory for your daughters

Linda, that is so true. That is what my dad's passing has done for me even more. I am at the point now where days are flying by, I am now in that category and I have to be honest, it stinks. As for your son, I hated school, couldn't wait to get out. I wanted to be a sprinkler fitter doing fire protection back in the day. I loved that work but the economy in upstate NY then was bad, actually it was bad in a lot of places in the 80's. So, the Navy called. I believe the days of dropping out of school and working w/your hands are gone for the most part. Most trades finish jobs much quicker, they do much more w/much less now. My feeling is you need licenses, certifications or the paper to position yourself more than ever before. Of course, connections can work wonders. The good news is your kids are still young and eventually they will come to realize the need for something more. Trust me, I don't take my life for granted now, I spend as much quality time w/my kids as I can. That is what is really getting under my skin w/this course. It has taken control of my schedule, my only breaks really are quick posts on here. I'm just delaying the misery now. BTW, today would've been my dads B-day. No degree for him, Union sprinkler fitter, jack of all trades. Happy Birthday, Dad!

Glad that your feeling better. Sorry to hear about your Dad.

Keep up the good work with your studying. Your sons will seek a college education when they realize the importance of one. Both my sons went back and both are working on attaining their Bachelors.

My older son is 21, but he has major learning difficulties. I have kind of become resigned to the fact that he might be living with us for a very long time yet. He has never had a job and get SSI. He is only about 15 in maturity level.

My younger son is 19 I hope he will eventually go back he is so bright it is a shame to waste his intelligence on working in the seafood department.

I keep pushing my younger son to just try one CLEP, he is great at test and I feel if he just trys one he will like the idea. I have tried everything including telling him if he doesn't take one by the end of July he will have to pay rent and car insurance. He is still resisting.

I am just frustrated with them both right now. If my husband doesn't find a job before his severance runs out everyone in this family is in for a rude awakening.
