Hello all,
I have been a member here for a couple of years now and I am finally ready to take the plunge!
I have received my degree audit from TESC and I need some guidance on how to test out (CLEP, DSST, FEMA,.. ) and complete my degree in 2010.
I need 77 credits, about 25 of those in general ed.
Could you take a look at my audit and give me some ideas on how to proceed?
Thanks Again!
You could do the FEMA classes, but TESC charges something like $477 for their transfer. Might be better for you to look at grabbing 4 of the 6 credit CLEPs like A&P Literature, English Lit., Natural science, and College Math.

I think you are mistaken on that. TESC will take courses directly from a FEMA transcript. If you finish all the courses first then have the free transcript sent from FEMA that eals FREE for the whole FEMA thing. I am considering adding more FEMA to my plan.

Linda is right- FEMA is free to earn and free to transfer into TESC...free in every way shape and form.

FEMA cover different Emergency Management topics. You go through the lessons and take an un proctored test at the end.
When you have completed 25 of the approved FEMA courses from the list I've attached you simply fax them a transcript request and they will send one to you and to TESC.
TESC accepts FEMA "raw" meaning that you do not need to transcribe the credits through another college. They do not charge you to accept FEMA. The classes are listed as 1 credit "Pass" classes on your transcript.
Note: there are some classes on this list that are no longer given by FEMA. Not to worry, there are enough on the list to make it to 25 so you have no problem.
Taking 25 of the accepted FEMA = 25 free elective credits at TESC!
Good luck! I hope you enjoy the classes. It is a wonderful way to get informed and prepared as well as get some awesome credit for college.
