29palms Wrote:I'm going to follow AlbaTiVo's suggestion to start with Aleks first, maybe with College Algebra, then Trig, then statistics, then follow Rebel100 SL strategy for Chemistry and Physics. Sounds like this can be done fast, but I don't know your study habbits or IQ, versus mine, so I'll just start with College Algebra, (Unless anyone suggest a better place to start with.) At 20 bucks per month with Aleks, I'll just look at it like a tool shed electric bill or something.
When we met you indicated you thouht you where every bit my equal...where did the confidence go? Tongue I think 4-6 months is a very doable timeline...We know from your 96 hours of credit that your certainly no slouch. You just need to get going. I would say start the ALEKS and begin a class t th same time...get this thing done already!

Don't hesitate to get a quality tutor to assist with the math...your getting cheap credit there. A few bucks to help you over any rough spots is money well spent.

You can do this! Conquering Physics/Chemistry is about consistantly working on it, not about being a genius.

29palms how many CLEP/DSST tests have you taken since you first joined the board? If the answer is 0, you need to stop asking questions on the board and get to what is important. I have seen a lot of people spend way too much time asking for help on the board and not making any progress on their degree. 4 months is enough to grab 30 credits. I did it and so have many others.

Its time for some tough love. Go get a REA book and a cup of coffee and start reading. Everyone knows I prefer those books to starting out with flashcards but there is a reason for it. You just can't short cut learning.

I didn't want to start this thing until I was certain to what I was dealing with. Got the evaluation yesterday, now, time to pick a good time to start. Ok, no more questions until I get done with my first course. See you guys later, and thanks again for all your information and support.

Don't let any of the courses scare you off and don't make your goals to easy. Push yourself and set goals that are hard but not impossible.

When I first took Organic Chemistry I was terrified I was sure I would never be able to do it. While working full time, raising a teenager, and taking one other class I worked hard and got an A in that class. If I could do it you can too I am far from a genius.

When I decided I had been stalling to long and I needed to finish by BA I set myself a goal of 29 credits in 6 months through testing and ALEKS. I accomplished that while working 2 part time jobs that turned into one full-time job and I also had to rush 2 PRAXIS II (Teacher certification test) in that time period, while raising 2 teenagers. Again if I could do it you can too.

29palms,

What you are planning is totally do-able in a short amount of time if you really want it bad enough. Seriously, I took this summer off from taking any TESC classes & knocked out most of my undergrad credits through a combination of CLEP & DSST exams, 2 ALEKs math courses & 21 FEMA courses. I started the last week of May with the ALEKS courses and starting hitting the CLEP & DSST exams from the beginning of July & it took me until the beginning of October to finish them up. It only took me that long because I failed the French clep & had to pick up 12 more credits worth of CLEP/DSST exams to make up the difference. I work full time AND I started an online class and a PLA in September, then a 2nd PLA in October. Lastly, I have a family which consists of 3 children, 2 of which are autistic so I know what it's like to be busy and sleep deprived. If I can knock it out, you can too. If you want it badly enough, you can make miracles happen. Good luck! Smile

Time isn't the essence for me, not that important. I am not really in any kind of hurry for this degree. This is going to be done STRESS FREE. Like taking a laxative.

I might make this my new tag line...at least the last two lines LOL!

I don't think anyone cares how long you take to accomplish the goal...but this site is devoted to action! If your not accumulating credits some feel like your not serious enough...don't take it personal. I hear some people take a full four years to get a bachelors degree!!! Smile Smile Smile
