Have you taken Principles of Finance through Uxcel?
#1
I got cocky. I've passed every CLEP and DSST I've ever taken. The Principles of Finance DSST was the last test I had to take before starting 2 TCEPs at Thomas Edison. I brushed up a little and crammed for the test but didn't give it the proper attention that I should have. Come exam night I failed the exam by 1 question! Arugh!!! One question!

I can wait 90 days to retake it, but my enrollment with TESC ends before then. My only option for POF credit without extending enrollment is to take it through Uexcel. So, I'm wondering if anyone here has taken the Uexcel PoF exam. If so:

1. How did it go for you?
2. Were you able to use a BA II plus calculator?
3. Are the questions straight forward, or do they get a bit tricky. (I see on their info sheet for the test that there are fewer questions, but the same time allotment as the DSST.)
4. Is there any reason to buy the book they recommend, or does the test cover what I can find in any other POF text?

Thank you so much for your help!

Why not change direction and take the Penn Foster Financial Management course? It transfers to TESC as FIN-301. The course can be completed in one week easily since the final is now unproctored. Yes it's a bit more expensive than DSST but I prefer to pay a bit extra for a stress free experience. Also the fee includes the textbook and a very nice financial calculator.

When I took the course there were 5 quizzes @ 20 questions and the final exam has 3 multi-part questions and 10 problems. When I took the course, the final was proctored. I completed the quizzes over the course of 3 days then had to wait for the final exam to be mailed. That is no longer the case, the answers are now populated in a word doc and uploaded online to your course page. You could have it done quickly and stress free (open book) with no time constraints.

Let me know if interested? i still have the study guide if you want to take a look.

Awesome! I didn't realize that PF had a course that qualified. I'll be looking into that. Thanks!
