Have credits need to pick a degree!

If you were starting out and just want a degree, not particular what it is, what would you choose that is fastest?

My sons have both passed one German language CLEP 67 and one Italian AP (4).

Any ideas are appreciated!

(Even though these two are good at languages they just roll their eyes when I tell them that college takes 4 years).

Liberal Arts, Liberal Studies concentration at Thomas Edison State College. It's the quickest degree I know of. My wife did hers in about 8 months. Mine only took about 6 months while working full time (though my job was conducive to studying on the clock...).

I think what sets it apart from the others (Excelsior for sure) is that almost any course over the 200 level is considered "upper level." Thus, the concentration isn't arduous.

...and to speed it up even further, leverage the 40 free fema credits available to TESC grads. Get 1/3 of the degree out in less than 1 month (IMO) for free.

Use search function 'FEMA' for the numerous posts...

Just as a side note, the NYU Language Proficiency exam is worth up to 16 credits. They have language tests for both German and Italian. If I remember correctly the exam costs something around $300 (others on the board would be better able to offer info on this). While it probably wouldn't be worth it for German (they already have 12 credits), it may be worth it for the Italian if they are really proficient.

Ease of obtaining credits. Other degrees require more difficult (and therefore more time consuming) courses. Given that two psychology exams are considered upper level (Human Growth and Devel and Educational Psy), and that those are two of the stupid-easiest exams there are (in my opinion), it doesn't take very long to prepare for and pass such exams. Plus, of course, you have the free (and easy, IMO) FEMA credits that you can slam through quickly.

The biggest obstacles seem to be the math and science requirements, for most people. But if you're good at those, and you use InstantCert, you should be able to obtain your BA this way fairly easily.

But, of course, I say "easily" as someone who never failed a CLEP or Dantes. Yet I know several people personally who have failed both. I didn't find them particularly difficult in many ways (they required hard work in preparation, of course), but others apparently do have trouble passing them. I guess a lot of it depends on the person.
