PennFoster vs. Straighterline for TESC BSBA
#11
I really, really hope you're right about Trig being accepted by TESC in place of PreCalculus. I was pulling my hair out earlier and on imulse switched to Trig. This of course means everything I did for PreCalc is now gone. For Trig though my initial assessment boosted me higher than the past few days in PreCalc and I'm at 53%! It's like I see a ray of sunshine bursting through the stormy clouds reminiscent of the cheesiest Claritin commercials! Even the problems I have left appear to me to be more in English rather than a dead tongue like ancient Akkadian. I really, really hope TESC accepts this course in place of PreCalc...

Well that's what it says on the PDF, and what has been said on the forum forever, and it's what I just completed myself, so I hope so too. Smile

I hope for both our sakes that you're right then. I just FINALLY tested out of Trig with 71%. Took many, many hours to get to this point. I kid you not, but I had to take 8 assessments after the initial and TWICE I kept getting 69%! Talk about maddening...

Aw well, I finally made it through!!! :hurray:

Now I wait for ACE to approve the course and then I want to check out Business Statistics. Not sure if I can do this course right now, but am curious to see what's involved since I'm paid up through the end of the month. Thanks for the help!

Awesome! I thought I would enjoy trig since I did better at it in HS than anything else, but the last 2 weeks I worked on it (out of about 4) I wanted to claw my eyeballs out.

FYI since you are going for a BSBA, Business Stats will transcribe as Operations Management, and so it may not fill your Intro Stats requirement. Check with an advisor. I went with ALEKS Intro to Stats myself, as do others. Some do Intro to Stats, then spend a few hours carefully assessing into Biz Stats at 70+ to get the extra 3 credits. I took a look at it but didn't need the credit so I canceled.

I understand completely. PreCalc was even worse! I was very surprised to see that ACE has already reviewed and given me credit for the Trig class today. I wasn't expecting anything until later this week. That's less than 24 hours!

You know I think I remember the discussion last year about Business Stats vs. Intro to Stats and how they are both received by TESC. I went ahead and signed up for Intro to Stats today and started looking at it since I'm paid up through the 22nd. I doubt I'll finish this one right now because I have too much going on at the moment, but want to get an idea of what to look forward to later.

I have to agree Trigonometry for ALEKS was hard. I had a buddy of mine who majored in math tutor me a little before I took the assessments. That helped me so much. Calculus II at Straighterline as well, especially the fill in the blanks.
