Has anyone taken Intro to Stats through Sophia Learning?
#1
If so, can you please provide any feedback on the pro's and con's of the course. I'm currently working on Intro to Stats through Aleks, but its becoming quite frustrating. I would like a route that is more visual and provides instruction such as what I see on the Sophia Learning website. The courses offered through Sophia are also ACE accredited.

ALEKS is tough,SOPHIA is easier. The required score for the proctored final for SOPHIA is 50%, and in some cases, you can retake it. STRAIGHTERLINE is another option. The feedback for SOPHIA is almost always positive- but it is more expensive. Many students switch from ALEKS to STRAIGHTERLINE, SOPHIA or other options.

Thank you. I'm also considering Straighterline because I noticed Sophia is double the cost. Is Straighterline comparable to Sophia in regards to the "easiness" of the course?

I also struggled with ALEKS Stats, so just quit and decided to try other things for a while. Now, I'm back to needing to get through it. I searched this forum, and found some additional options to learn what you need (rather than getting credit for it). Here are some additional free options to learn the material in order to pass the ALEKS, Straighterline, or DSST:

https://www.khanacademy.org (Probability & Statistics) - this is similar to ALEKS in how it's laid out with going through the course, but every lesson has a video rather than just an explanation

https://courses.edx.org/courses/NotreDam...a466e2675/ (NotreDameX: SOC120x I Heart Stats: Learning to Love Statistics)

https://www.udacity.com (Intro to Statistics)

All of these are video-based courses, but none are credit-bearing.

Also, I read that Sophia is similar to Khan Academy in that you don't go step-by-step through it like you would in a classroom, but rather piece-by-piece so you might miss an explanation here or there. In Khan, you are given a problem, and you can watch the video if you need additional info on how to solve. I think this may prove to be more difficult for me personally. That's why I started searching for a different format, where you learn more like you would in a classroom, lesson-by-lesson, then do the work. EdX or Udacity courses, both of which come highly recommended, are taught this way.
