What about the CLAST? This exam is administered by the Florida DOE, so you're able to take it. Page 33 of the Guide to Credit by Examination lists the CLAST in Mathematics as one of the exams evaluated by Excelsior.
I strongly suggest you call your advisor and ask about the details!

Brian, I know how important this exam was to you, I am so sorry the outcome was not as expected. It takes time to re-group and get a little distance from it for your heart to know what your brain already knows and that is that you did your very best. You can only be shameful, disappointed and apologetic if you had not tried. There is pride and valor in effort. Remember to breathe and know that this too shall pass.

Brian,
Why did you NEED to take College Math?
Isn't "College Algebra" the minimum math requirement for a General Business degree at Excelsior? Have you already taken that exam? If so, you have already covered your Quantitative requirements, and you can take ANY other exam to fulfill your 120 credits.
If you are not going for the General Business degree, I know that Statistics covers the quant req.
Just wondering. Please let us know what specific requirement you need to fulfill so that we can help you find some alternatives.
Take care,
Snazzlefrag

Yes, I think RBOWMAN is right. Brian might still be able to make it on time. I checked around different community college websites, and some of them have registration deadlines, but some don't. One campus here in Miami offers a CLAST/CAT, which is computer based, and seems to be on a walk-in basis. In fact, the retake time frame is only 31 days. There may be similar instances in the Tampa Bay area.

Snazzlefrag Is Brian seeking a Business degree? In that case you're right, College Algebra is the minimum requirement.
Do Lib. Arts degrees require a mathematics credit?

Liberal Arts requires 2 credits of Quantitative (I'm not 100% certain of this). I do know that DANTES Statistics covers Quant for liberal arts degrees...and you don't have to be good at math to do well on it (speaking from personal experience).
If he is not going for a Business degree, a whole world of options just opened up to him.
Hopefully, he will clarify his actual credit needs for us shortly!

Brian-
first let me say how sorry i am that things didn't quite go as planned. for some reason you are supposed to take a slightly different path than planned, but you will still get there! i agree with ana, call your advisor RIGHT NOW.
as for how you feel, i'm sure you are bitterly disappointed, but utter shame, absolutely not. you have nothing to be ashamed of. we've all had setbacks. on this forum, you've always conducted yourself with the utmost gentlemanly manner with encouragement for all. you've come this far and you will find a way.

I just verified this with the Liberal Arts Catalog. ALL Excelsior degrees require at least 2 credits of quantitative reasoning. Business degrees require a minimum of College Algebra.
DANTES may be a good way to go because we are allowed to use our own scientific calculator and they are UNTIMED (the pressure of the timer may have been a big issue on the CLEP). The downside would be the delay in receiving the score.
DANTES Statistics (this is not really math at all..but it still counts)
DANTES Fundamentals of Algebra
The CLAST you mentioned would be another option. $30 fee, walk-in, 31 day retake wait, and Brian has already studied for it. Do you know if they are scored instantly Ana?

I have no idea. I know about as much as you do right now. I took it (the paper/pencil version) in 1997 upon entering the university, but it's all a big blur. I'll look into it though. I have a feeling that the computer-based exam is scored instantly, but that's a guess.
