That website linked may be incorrect, as anything under 40 should be a fail, yet it shows as a pass or a C.
These two websites explain it a bit better and show the proper % and grading.

From the second link you provided:
A
70% – 100%
Excellent to Outstanding
First
Distinction
B
60% – 69%
Good to Very Good
Upper Second 2:1
C
50% – 59%
Satisfying
Lower Second 2:2
The UK looks to be VERY different in their grading than the US. In general 90-100 is an A (4.0) in the US and 80-89 is a B (3.0). 65 and below is usually failing which is an F. A C would be 70-79 (2.). Some schools say below 70 is failing. Weird that UK C at 50% would be considered passing when you only passed half of the course content. Maybe I should move to the UK so when I end up with an 84 again I'm not super annoyed with myself....I'd still have an A there!

Technically, it's not that 'easy' to get an A. Here's the info in Brief on GPA equivalency to US and if you wanted to review the British/UK system, the Wiki.
There's a chart here for US and other nations - Link:
