Getting into WGU MBA
#1
I need to know if WGU will let me into their MBA program with the following criterion.

I'm working on getting my BA in Music from TESU. I will be transfering in all of the credits except the Capstone.
I anticipate that my cumulative GPA will be satisfactory, but I'm not sure how this all works.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I doubt you will have any problem. They will want to see a resume with management/leadership of some sort. They will require a phone interview to hear you speak to that experience and to your goals once you have the MBA.

I've actually never heard of anyone being turned down.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I guess you haven't looked at their webpage for info and here are my recommendation for you.
My suggestion is apply to them once you finish your degree, and see if it works out for just the MBA without specialization track.
If by any chance it fails, you've got a back up just as good as WGU, I would suggest Patten University.

Here are the two pages: MBA https://www.wgu.edu/admissions/business_requirements
Special Requirements for WGU’s MBA Programs and M.S. Management and Leadership Program

Submit a transcript verifying receipt of your bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited institution.
Submit a resume demonstrating at least three years of significant experience in business, industry, or at a nonprofit organization.

To qualify for the MBA Information Technology Management Program, applicants must:

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university.
Applicants must also submit a resume showing at least three years of significant professional experience.

Thanks to you both. I was just seeing what the experience from others was like with a BA that was not in business.
I probably should have clarified. Thanks again

They don't much care about the undergrad degree so long as you have one. There are no pre reqs...biggest reason (other than price) for why I chose them.

You'll likely be fine. Just be aware than there is no such thing as half-time MBA at WGU. It is all or nothing per term.

As in cost or workload?

I'm a good year and a half out of looking into a Master's program of any kind, but this seems like a good question.

I mean that unlike many programs, you cannot take 3, 4, 6, or 8 CR per semester. You have to do full time or more, unless it is your very last semester. FT is 9 CR in graduate. I just like to warn people, because there is little leeway once it begins.

Yeah isn't it 9 credits per term and WGU's term is 6 months so you could get away with completing 1 course every two months. Unless I am way off base. I'd like clarification because I was thinking of getting my Masters in Accounting from WGU, I was planning on two terms though as I need a nice little break from working on school every single day.

Been awhile since I was there so there could be changes but my experience was truly self paced. They consider most masters as 2 year programs even though you can work much faster. So "sufficient academic progress" must be made in every semester. This generally means you divide the number of hours in a program by 4 semesters. Fir the MBA that means 33/4 or about 8-9 credits per semester. If you fail to meet that in a given semester they will most likely just have your advisor make you aware and encourage you to get caught up. Thing is, I got to select (with their advice) what class would come next. Not a single class took more than 6 or so weeks and I would just plan things out so that hard classes paired with easy classes so I always hit my mark. Heck I was in such a hurry to get going that my advisor sent me the rubric for two classes before my official start date and on day one I submitted the first assignments.

I also took a few months off in the middle so I could hit my employer reimbursement....I was going too fast.
