Help! I need 6 credits (cheap) that I can earn to transfer into my school. I’ve maxed the credit by exam credits I can use toward my BSN.
Has to be a US cultural/government class and an Other cultures course (women studies, family ecology etc). No straighteredge, shoomp or saylor options either. Need a “real” institution.. can do my local CC, but would love it if I could find an open learning option I could tackle on my own time this summer.

CLEP is accepted by many schools that don't take Shmoop, etc. There is Sociology and American Govt.
Also TECEP and UExcel are accepted by many.
A couple cheap online community colleges are New Mexico Junior College and Clovis Community College. They are not self-paced, but in the summer they are only 7-8 weeks.

OP said they maxed credit by exam, so I think CLEP/DSST is out.

As was already suggested, TECEP & UExcel are tests from RA Schools - plus there is CSU-Global.
For self-paced courses, there is:
U of Arkansas Self-paced - $480
U of Idaho IS $510
CSU-Pueblo Extended Studies $555
BYU IS $573
Sam Houston State U Self-Paced $573
W Texas A&M U Self-Paced $699

Oh. I would recommend one of the online CCs if you only need lower-level credit. Even though they're not self-paced, 7-8 weeks is pretty fast, and you basically choose when in the week to the work. They are also cheap. I feel that online CC is much better than B&M CC, but it depends on your learning style, schedule, etc.

Thanks everyone. I already have two BSN courses this summer at the accelerated pace, hence the need for a self study that I could possible knock out during my minimal breaks I’ll have. Can’t decide if I really want to torture myself and family with 12 credits or not...
You all provided me with sufficient ideas though! This forum never fails me.

Probably not as they are still credit by exam. The OP should definitely check before using them (or deciding not to use them).
