GRE Question
#1
I had never considered taking the GRE until reading on these forums. Could someone please tell me, if I were to take it and pass with a high enough score to receive the 30 credits at excelsior, which courses it would count for? (BA in Psych)

TIA,
Stacey

I am trying to find out a more definitive answer to this, too. I just sent an email yesterday to ask which exams I might still need to complete a major in psychology. I suspect it will be Statistics and Research methods. I will let you know as soon as I find out for sure. I asked an adviser before I took the test which exams were duplicated, and here's what she said:

Jodi Bernstein-Liberal Arts Adviser-

Quote:The DSST exams Organizational Behavior, Drug & Alcohol Abuse, and Management Information Systems would not duplicate the GRE in Psychology. Org Behavior would apply as 3.00 lower level credits in the arts & sciences, while the other two exams would apply as 6.00 upper level credits under applied professional. Exams the would duplicate are CLEP's Educational Psychology and Human Growth & Development. And if you earn at least 3.00 GRE credits, you would lose the General Psychology course already on your record. Other things that may duplicate, particularly at the upper level, will really depend on your score, so I encourage you to hold off on any on any psychology type courses/exams until that time.

I don't know why I thought MIS would duplicate. I might have meant to ask about DSST Here's to Your Health, and just got them reversed in my head. So I have no idea about DSST HTYH. Hmm.

Just as a person who has taken the exam, there's a lot of overlap for Org. Behavior, I barely studied for that at all, and as I am now studying for Substance Abuse, I can say there's a lot of overlap in this material also. So it's be safe to take those leading up to the GRE Psych or immediately after. I'll let you know about DSST Statistics and the Research Methods one as soon as I know myself. Besides what's already mentioned, I would bet CLEP Intro. to Psych. is the very first exam duplicated, but that one's obvious.

Feel free to let me know if you have any more questions! I hope this helps narrow it down a bit!

I was just looking at the GRE testing website and it said on there that the only times these tests were given is October, November, and April? I was thinking about doing it but I better be done by time April roles around.
