Future TESU BSBA Marketing or GM degree?
#1
Thumbs Up
Hello everyone!

I want to first thank the degreeforum community, without all of this valuable and accessible info I would be more lost than I currently am!
That being said, this is my first post, so I apologize in advance if anything is confusing/incorrect/etc...

I was hoping to get some help with a degree plan I've been building, and I will later add the Excel spreadsheet that I've been using to match all of my existing and future credits.

I'm looking to complete my BSBA in Marketing via TESU (After some time I decided on TESU, and have applied, been accepted, as well as sent off my transcripts to be evaluated), though I'm still between Marketing & GM; which would be faster? I would very much like to complete this degree by the end of 2018 or earlier!

My current existing credits are 33-45cr:
- 18 former University credits evaluated and applied to TESU evaluation
- 6-12 former Community College (CC) credits (I have not added these as I'm waiting to see how TESU will apply them toward my evaluation)
- 3 English 101 CLEP
- 12  French Language CLEP LVL 1&2

I am figuring my current standing is for sure 33 credits (18 University + ENG101 CLEP + FRENCH CLEP), and could very well be 39-45 total credits (12 CC credits) depending on TESU.
I have formatted the following information on an Excel Spreadsheet, and will add it at a later time. I'm assuming the French Language CLEP could be added to the General Education Electives? This is strictly a rough draft in order to gain a little insight, and perhaps some guidance as to where I can complete credits inexpensively and quickly (I've been looking at Saylor/Study.com/TECEP/etc.). It's also my understanding that ALEKS no longer has ACE accredited math courses?
I guess I will also have to wait until all of my credits are sent to TESU... Some of my CC credits may not fit in the Marketing Degree plan, but may fit in a General Management plan?

I would say GM is quicker than Marketing unless someone already has Marketing knowledge. And cheaper too, but not by much.

Marketing is not bad, but I think with GM you could avoid some papers.

It also depends on your learning style. If you are good with the TECEP format, then it might not be much different. (Some people really want courses instead of 1 big exam.)

I don't think there's a huge difference in time between the GM and Marketing concentrations. It's just up to you what you want to get.

There are additional marketing courses that you didn't have on there, they're fairly new through Study.com and UL (and some are even 4cr):
- MARK 301: Marketing Research (4cr)
- MARK 302: Consumer Behavior (4cr)
- MARK 308: Applied Marketing

There's also a LL course that might work:
- BUS 327: Retail Strategy

And one UL I'm not sure of:
- HOSP 301: Hospitality Marketing

Davar also has:
- Principles of Sales (>>MAR-310)
TESU BSBA/HR 2018 - WVNCC BOG AAS 2017 - GGU Cert in Mgmt 2000
EXAMS: TECEP Tech Wrtg, Comp II, LA Math, PR, Computers  DSST Computers, Pers Fin  CLEP Mgmt, Mktg
COURSES: TESU Capstone  Study.com Pers Fin, Microecon, Stats  Ed4Credit Acct 2  PF Fin Mgmt  ALEKS Int & Coll Alg  Sophia Proj Mgmt The Institutes - Ins Ethics  Kaplan PLA

Thanks for the reply!
I have some former Marketing/Business knowledge, and I'm a pretty good test taker, so TECEP, CLEP, DSST, etc are all options I'm looking at.

Is it true that TESU no longer accepts TECEP in place of the BSBA capstone?

Thanks for the tips! I read that I can waive the TECEP capstone and residency waiver with the Study.com affiliation/scholarship (which I have not signed up for); would it be too late to add this seeing as I've already applied and sent credits to TESU for evaluation?

I'm really looking to finish my degree by the end of this year and BSBA in Marketing or GM seem to be the fastest, but given my credits BALS could also be quick to finish...

That's good about the new Study.com classes. Should be easier and cheaper then.

Eriehiker said HOSP 301 does not count as marketing.

Yes.

It is not too late to add Study.com affiliation.

It only waives the 1 credit cornerstone, not the capstone. It doesn't waive anything else. Also it makes TESU courses and the residency waiver cost less, but the price is expected to increase this July.

Awesome, thank you for the tip! I've gone ahead and started my free trial with Study.com and will continue to explore it today, it seems I've found a credit transfer guide between Study.com and TESU as well which makes life a bit easier! Blush

Some posted guides may be out of date... watch out. Newer posts on this forum are usually right Smile

Roger that, thanks! I've been seeing some discrepancies here and there so I'm culminating a bit of the similar guides.

I've been going over the alternative credit project featured on the TESU website, would the Saylor courses listed all be able to fit my needs?

Saylor free courses:

Understanding the Physical and Natural World:
Intro to molecular & cellular bio- BIO101
Gen chemistry- CHE104
Intro to Electromagnetism- PHY112
Intro to Mechanics- PHY111

Mathematics:
College Algebra- MAT121
Intro to StatIstics- STA201

Civic & Global Learning:
Corporate Communication- MAN373
Intro to Comparative Politics- POS282

Professional Business Requirements:
Business Law & Ethics- LAW201
Intro to Business- BUS101

*Where can I attach the spreadsheet I've formatted for my degree plan? :3

Saylor ACPE is going away at the end of this month, but you can hurry.

Not all the Saylor courses are set to expire at the end if this month - here is link to the thread on the ACPE topic: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid254332
