Frustrated by Study.com App

I have a big problem with the study.com app and i am hoping maybe someone knows a trick to fix it. Any time I am in landscape mode (device sideways) it automatically makes the video fill up the entire screen. Well, I don't watch the videos, i only read the text. So this means on my convertible touch screen Chromebook, I can never use the app. I have to use their website. The app just senses that my screen is in landscape and immediately fills the entire screen with video and no text. Meanwhile, on my iphone, there is no way to 'hide' the video panel, so i can only read tiny chunks of text at a time before scrolling. Why oh why didn't Study consider a way to 'hide' the video?

Can't you just turn your Chromebook to portrait mode and bypass that issue?
