Frustrated...

rebel100 Wrote:I took the promotion at the old job...still in Fla. Sad I was offered the move to Colorado, but turned it down due to housing costs and the fact that my aging parents were very reluctant to stay in Fla without me or make the move to frigid Co. I suppose that deep down passing on this job sticks in my mind...despite the drawbacks I turned down a doubling of my salary....and just watched a guy leave my hospital for the one in Co. !!!

OMG I thought you were going to go to CO. What a bummer.. ok now this all makes more sense. I can really see why you're struggling... passing up a really cool opportunity probably adds quite a bit to the frustration.

It'll be harder for you if you're not able to relocate for a position. Above a certain pay grade, it's considered somewhat essential, well at least in my field anyhow. And unfortunately, as you know, I had to leave my beloved Colorado and am now living in sunny Illinois. LOL Chicago is great, but more of a place I would want to visit rather than live, but I do really love my new job so I guess it's worth it.

I'm not above relocation...just wasn't quite enough money to take the offer in Co. Of course I second guess my decision constantly, especially since a colleague was able to make that exact move recently...but as an RN Manager he was offered an incredible incentive package including $25k to move, 6 months rent, and a base compensation of around $125k/year.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Wow I am jealous! I am happy with my salary, but was given $1500 for my move. LOL needless to say, it cost quite a bit more. The overall raise made up for it, but it was REALLY difficult. I would have been a lot happier with a 25k check!!

Yeah, they indicated around $10K for my move, but the base pay fell well short of 125K. It's an incredible company, probably second guess this one till I find something better! Smile

As a long-time ruminator, may I offer advice? Let it go. LET. IT. GO. Unless you can undo your decision, work from here. You can do it. You've got the tools. Do it.

You might have gotten to CO and hated it. Hated the job. Hated yourself. Whatever. It's irrelevant. What matters is now. What can you do now to put yourself in a better place? How can you address concerns that caused you to decide against the job in CO? What position can your pursue that will allow you handle your concerns, and be a job you'd enjoy? Ponder (don't ruminate on) this. Make a thoughtful decision, not one based upon fearing you'll pass on something an regret it, and then, go.

Good luck.
