Even though it is only probation still a major issue for an academic powerhouse like UNC. They need to clean things up because this is a big black eye for the school

I'm glad they didn't get a pass.
For clarification: This is the most serious sanction a college can receive other than having its accreditation pulled. Probation is the last step before having your accreditation revoked. Being put on warning or notice is the lowest level sanction.

Yea this is a big black eye for the school. i constantly get "everything is fine.. nothing to see here" letters from the Chancelor.

If it was an HBCU they would have taken away accreditation, completely.

This is SACS' sanction policy. They rarely remove accreditation immediately without putting the school on probation first unless the school is in bankruptcy.

Someone on the other forum said the same thing about HBCUs and for-profits. I tried to find an example involving SACS, but couldn't. I asked him for one; I'm still waiting. It's not that I don't believe anyone; I just want to see examples. I did, however, find an article that listed several HBCUs that were placed on warning or probation. The ones that lost accreditation were on probation first.
