Hey,
After a long journey I have completed my Bachelor's of Science in Liberal Studies at Excelsior College. I have Areas of Focus in Admin\Mgmt and Psychology.
I completed over 100 credit's by Clepping in 8 months. With about 20 Community College credits, some FEMA, Some Cleps, Some DSST, and some Ece exams I have unofficially finished my degree today. My GPA should be about 3.26
Out of the 30 something odd exams I took, I passed most of them. Only failed 3 and made a few C's and mostly A's and B's. At almost 20 years old I can honestly say I completed my degree in less than a year.
Thank the Lord for IC and this forum. I could not have moved this far this fast without it. Most exams I studied IC only and with some sparknotes, random textbooks at the community college and Wikipedia I did the rest.
I felt like I was in the rat race at the local comunity college and after reading Brad Voeller's book and 123collegedegree.com and bain4weeks.com I decided to Clep.
I was homeschooled through all grades and didn't do real well on the ACT only getting a 20. I then joined the Army National Guard to help pay for school and to gain some skills. I just didn't feel like I was going very fast at Community college. Once I passed my first CLEP I was hooked. It was like an addiction. One after another I passed most and failed a few. I was like a robot always studying and catching the latest advice and Clepp buzz from this forum.
Thank you all for your advice, support and general knowledge. It's nice to have a forum of such great people with the same goals.
I have learned a lot in this Clepping journey. I have discovered that I love to learn and want to pursue a Master's program. Probably an MBA but am still deciding. I can now go to OCS or do ROTC while pursuing a Master's. MY options are virtually unlimited. I have learned to achieve my goals and to stay dedicated. Some tests were easy and some were hard but they all tought me to go on no matter what. I now feel ready to start growing up and being all that I can be.
I know now that whatever happens in this world, I can make it. With the right attitude, some faith in God, and strong will to succeed. I will make it. It's about what you make of your oppurtunities. If you are starting out, just as I was this year or if you are a CLEP expert, almost finished with your degree you can make it. It's about keeping the big picture in mind and never quitting. It's about bettering yourself and making friends. It's not so much what happens to you but what you do with your circumstances.
Ever Upwards,
Aaron Davis
