Foreign Credits
#1
I'm looking at transferring in my previously completed classes in computer programming from my local community college, however, these credits are from the far away land of Canada and need to be reviewed by a third party if I'm going to transfer them into TESU. Does anyone here have a recommendation out of the options that TESU gives? Has anyone used one of the services and had an experience where they would recommend not using one of the companies below? Is there really very little difference between the options? I'm just looking for a bit of guidance and I've always found this forum to be helpful.

I've listed the companies that TESU uses below (taken from http://www.tesu.edu/academics/catalog/In...ies.cfm.);

Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, Inc. (ACEI)
ACEI | The Global Source for Document Evaluation

Center for Applied Research, Evaluations & Education, Inc.
International Evaluation Service Center for Applied Research, Evaluation, and Education, Inc.

Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE)

World Educational Services, Inc. (WES)
International Credential Evaluation | World Education Services

Wow, that is quite a trek. Will they even be able to read the transcripts, being that they will be in some random foreign language that no one in America will be able to understand?!?

The English speaking part of Canada has the same semester credit system, the ABCDF grading system, and degree requirements are quite similar. I have enrolled in a few US schools and they were smart enough not to require an evaluation. If there is an opposite way of doing things, I'm sure French Canada would do it but the English Canadian education system is very close to the US system.

I transferred credits in from Canada as well. I used AACRAO which is no longer on the approved list. It's well worth paying the fee though, it cost me around $300 but it allowed me to easily transfer in my credits and I am also able to have duplicate copies sent to other schools for about $15.

What I ended up with was several pages that broke down all of my Canadian schooling right from high school, community college and some university. It had explanations equating what each school and course would equate to in the U.S. It looks very good, if I'm ever required to bring in school transcripts to a job interview in the U.S. I'll use that as my primary one for my Canadian schooling since it's so nicely organized.

I've transferred in credits from the UK using WES. I got the full course breakdown. They were ok, they did the job within a couple of weeks and kept me informed
