So relieved to be done with that course, and shockingly, with an A grade! I actually enjoyed the research, putting together my Creative Project, and the process of writing the paper. However, I did not enjoy 1) the required format of the paper. It was basically the three sub-questions repeated a bazillion times. and 2) my mentor. Now that I've gotten my final grade, I can tell everyone: Do NOT sign up with David Longenbach. He was unhelpful, downright rude/spiteful, his personal grammar was atrocious, and his grading process made no sense (e.g. taking away points for me "not including" something that was written two sentences earlier). He also took weeks to grade my chapters, to the point where I had THREE ungraded chapters submitted at one point. I will be complaining to TESC and Rate My Professor about him, and since I looked here before choosing a mentor, thought I'd also mention it here for future students.
Onward and upward- two tests left to finish my degree!
CLEP's and DSST's passed: Fund. of Counseling, Tech Writing, Here's to your Health, Intro to Computers, Analyzing and Interpreting Lit, Human Growth and Devel, Intro to Soc., Crim Just, Law Enforcement, Env. and Humanity, Astronomy.
Completed 2 PLA's through LearningCounts.org.
Completed Capstone at TESC.

Just for my own reference, but what was this capstone for? (ie. what class?)
Congrats on finishing it!

Congrats! I know, it's a great feeling to be done with that course! And thanks for the mentor feedback too; that kind of thing is really helpful.

Congrats! I know the feeling. The capstone had me nervous. My mentor was Amy Laptad. She was great! At first I couldn't get a hold of her. I was using the student / mentor discussion forum. Then I started to email her directly and her responses were quick and helpful. At least you got an A.

It appears he is still involved with this course, so it's great that you mentioned this for future students.

The nice thing about older threads is that there is often a mention of something we may not have thought of currently, or don't know yet. I don't think it's usually beneficial to read old threads for "what class meets XYZ requirement at ABC college?" type of questions because those requirements have dramatically changed. But as for advice on writing Capstone papers and choosing a prof, I've been reading a lot of several year old threads and think many are very relevant to current students.
