Great point, LaterBloomer. To take the CELTA, you only need to "be eligible for university studies." Since the OP finished a year of university, he would qualify. And the CELTA is rated as Level 5 by Ofqual- similar to a US associate degree.
BA, MA, EdS, MMT, etc.
