So, I thought you guys might really enjoy this. My local community college Central Piedmont CC reviewed my son's ACE transcript for ALEKS credit. He completed: Beginning, Intermediate, and College Algebra, Pre-Cal, and Stats. I knew they wouldn't take Beginning, but the potential 12 credits made me submit his transcript. So, his review came back, they don't accept these for credit. Ok, not a huge deal for now. We registered him for Intermediate Algebra (where his placement score landed him) and you'll never guess this.....they require him to use ALEKS! FOR THE CLASS!! They want him to come into the computer lab and open his account (which we have to pay for) and the CLASS consists of all the students at desks doing ALEKS while the teacher sits up and helps if needed. AND WE ARE PAYING TUITION on top of this!?! PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this is the most asinine thing you've ever heard in your life. And yes, I've explained that he already took the ALEKS classes. They don't care. :willynilly: Gotta love "the system."

The community colleges in San Antonio use ALEKS in remedial math courses. If you want to receive credit for ACE approved courses, you have to argue with the chair of the department. The frustrating part is that, even though the catalog says that ACE credits will be considered, the chairs will have no idea what you're talking about.

I believe a trip to the registrars office is in order...maybe you can bribe them with an autographed copy of your book!
Seriously...I would go talk to them, can't hurt.

Would it be more cost effective to have your son just CLEP the course at this point since he already has the knowledge or were you already planning for other CLEPS as part of his degree plan?

Not cost effective (his tuition is covered by the pell grant) however, "I" have been telling him that for all 4 years of high school. He's a typical teen, mom doesn't know anything lol.
