Applied Professional(s)?
#1
I have 10 lower level classes/test to take and hopefully after tomorrow I will only have 8 left(taking Intro to Computing and Information Systems and Computer Applications tomorrow a.m. WISH ME LUCK!!!). So...my question to you all is WHAT test should I go for next? Anyone taken any of these listed below and how do you think it was?

CLEP-

Principles of Management
Principles of Marketing

Dantes-

Human Resource Management
Introduction to Law Enforcement
Principles of Supervision
Introduction to Business
Business Mathematics
Personal Finance
Fundamentals of Counseling
Principles of Financial Accounting

So let me have them guys, hoping that I can get about 5 more test(or more) done before Chirstmas.

Hi 50,

I would highly recommend the "business cluster" as follows:

Principles of Marketing
Principles of Management
Principles of Supervision
Human Resource Management
Intro to Business

Here's why....

You could certainly get them all done by Christmas. You might even be able to pass them all in a much shorter timeframe.

Personally, I found Marketing to be the most difficult out of the above five...but it's still on the 'relatively easy' side. I would take that one first, to get it out of the way.

The next three, Management/Supervision/HRM, contain a LOT of overlap and could be taken on the same day, or in the same week (as you are doing with the two computer exams tomorrow).

Finally, Intro to Business merely includes basic knowledge from each of the first four exams. So you could pass that one based on your previous studies, with just quick review of Instantcert or the DSST Official Study Guide book.

Instantcert is enough to pass ALL five of the exams. So you won't need to search around for additional resources. However, the DSST Official Study Guide book contains additional study material and mock exams for the last three exams in the list...very helpful!

Because of the amount of overlap, the sufficiency of Instantcert and DSST Official Study Guide, and the low relative difficulty of all the exams, there is no reason why you couldn't get these five exams over and done with by Christmas, at the absolute latest!

Regarding DANTES Principles of Financial Accounting:

If you need accounting credits, I would recommend you go for the CLEP Principles of Accounting exam instead. It is pass/fail, worth SIX credits, and covers credit for both Financial AND Managerial Accounting...in one exam.

CLEP is doing away with the 6-credit version next year. So if you decide to do a business degree (Eg, Human Resources), and you only took the 3-credit DANTES Financial Accounting exam, you might find yourself having to take a course to fulfill the remaining 3-credit Managerial Accounting requirement. So, you may as well kill two birds with one stone!

Of course, this is all just my opinion. You will need to weigh up the pros and cons, and come to your own decision based on your own needs and preferences, etc.

Best of luck,
Snazzlefrag

Question: Your thread title "Applied Professionals" infers to me that you may be able to fill up that column now with whatever you can. Is this so?

If so, how about some easy-breezy FEMA credits to fill the column?

Filling up this column as I can, with whatever I can. LOL! All I have left for lower level classes is Applied Professionals. Don't know how I did that, but did. I have heard of the FEMA credits somewhat, but really, I have to admit not enough to understand how I go about getting them. I guess I have been so stuck on Dantes and now CLEP that I didn't think of any other way. I have gone to ISU for 2 yrs, Purdure 1 year(for a Major in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Elementary Education) and now am trying to finish up with these sort of test and am going to apply to Excelsior when I am a lot closer for a Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts.

So, however I get there will be great. The faster the better! LOL!

Fema...so, explain please, I am all ears.

Here is a previously established FEMA thread packed with info.

In essence, these are online OPEN BOOK exams that are valued at 1 credit each. I collected 7 credits in just a couple of hours. Once completed you can either have the credits registered through Fredrick Community College (FCC) or I believe through the TESC credit bank.

Read through the thread and see what works for you - GOOD LUCK!
