Hi there,
I started taking FEMA classes with no real plan. Now I have 6 completed and am not sure which if any will translate into credit with Excelsior. The school won't evaluate these without the official FCC transcript but I don't have 77 dollars to spend on each credit just to see if they are accepted for credit. Here are the FEMA courses I've completed:
FEM108
FEM113
FEM131
FEM132
FEM134
FEM135
I am enrolled in the ASB program with no other credits earned yet.
Does anyone have experience receiving credit for FEMA classes with Excelsior?
Thanks :-)

unless it changed. doesnt EC except a "credit bank" for fema through TESC? if it does then you might get more bang for your buck that way.

$77 a credit? That's $210. for three credits. It's cheaper to take a straigherline.com class at $99.00 a month for as many classes as you can crunch into a month.
I thought it only cost $40. for ACE to transcribe FEMA and all organization credits, then you take the ACE transcript to the college so they can apply the credits for classes.

ACE and FEMA have nothing to do with each other. FEMA's fill niche, particularly at TESC. They can be transcribed for credit at FCC at $76 or $77 dollars a credit. Not for everyone...but do have their place.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

There are a couple of people (Dondeal and Rickyjo) who have done this recently and should know the answer to your question:

Since the price is high, I would recommend waiting to pay to transfer these FEMA credits until you have a better idea of how many you will actually need to complete.
Also, if I remember correctly, you do not have a lot of free electives in this degree. Something like the 3 free NFA credits on an ACE transcript or even an exam like Intro to Computing or A&I Lit may be a better choice for your credit needs.

FEM108 - if this is their IS-7 Citizen's Guide to Disaster Assistance? Then yes, 1 credit
FEM113 - IS-1 Emergency Mgr? If so, yes, 1 Credit
FEM131 - IS230? 1 credit
FEM132 - IS240.a Leadership and Influence, 1 credit
FEM134 - IS242 Effective Communication, 1 credit
FEM135 - IS-244.a Developing & Managing Volunteers, 1 credit.
The FEMA ISP course list provides info about college credit that FCC would accept. Then EC is simply receiving a transcript from Frederick Community College.
I did some FEM ISP courses via FCC since it shaves off time and filled in some needed electives.
If cost is a factor, you could look at Straigherline and ALEKS. I agree with NAP's comments to leave FEM classes for later as/if needed based on what I'm reading here.
Good luck,
JC
