Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and the concept of alternate credits so I may just be missing something when I ask this but can't those FEMA courses be converted into Frederick credits and then use those credits at TESC?
I'm assuming that previously FEMA course transcripts were sent to TESC and they accepted those as credits without a third party?
Edit: Of course doing it this way won't make them free credits but at least they are still an option. Also in this (converted) case wouldn't these credits be more than just electives only and be applicable to non-elective credit requirements?
Thanks
JC

They could be converted to credits, but the cost (around $80 per credit at this writing) makes it cheaper to take CLEPs/DSSTs. Other options for free and nearly free credits include NFA, TEEX, and Saylor, which has a ProctorU fee.
The FEMA credits would still count as free electives for most majors at TESC. In this case, the term "free" means that "any subject area is acceptable," not "these credits don't cost anything."

Hello All,
I put a ticket in with TESC shortly after the FEMA announcement asking this exact question - put FEMA credits through Fredrick Community College. TESC replied that they will not accept FEMA credits even if they were coming from FCC.
Thank you for your interest in Thomas Edison State College.
We are not currently offering credit for FEMA courses. Therefore, we will not accept FEMA credits toward degree completion if they are on a Frederick Community College transcript.
