Excelsor College - Straighterline Question
#1
I noticed on the Straighterline website that Excelsor is a partner college. They showed a list of courses and how they transfer to Excelsor. However, none of the history courses were on that list. Does that mean Excelsor will not accept the history courses from Straighterline? I am not yet enrolled with EC because I wanted to amass some ACE credits before I started paying the fees for the school.

Had a terrible experience with Straighterline. And fewer schools are taking their credits. It is no bargain to spend that much time and learn nothing. Take your basics at a community college. There are real on line colleges with actual teachers where you will actually learn something. SL has no teachers, no homework, no way to get a grade other than the constant tests. Just an online presence and a blackboard. No one answers the phone outside of business hours. No one to talk to after hours. It is a joke. Basically pay your money, take the tests, get a pretend pass that won't transfer anymore. Your time is worth more than this. I have several advanced degrees and wanted to try a random science course I needed (and I have taught before). Worst experience eeeever.

- Normally that is the case. If it is not listed then they do not accept it. I would contact Excelsor just to double check. You do not have to be enrolled to do so. HTH. Thanks

Wow TX123, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience with SL but SL clearly states that their courses are ACE approved for credit. All schools do not accept ACE Credit and I would not try them if my school did not. If you took a course with them and had it transcribed through one of their partner schools (washing credit) you could transfer that credit to any regionally accredited school. To say though that they are a joke is simply not true. They provide a cheap alternative to individuals that need college credit and otherwise would not be able to afford it.

+1 to what emichele20 said. The couple small issues I had with them were fixed fast from a simple e-mail. I've taken plenty of computer certs and would say I'm better off as a self-study ,but I've really been pleased with their format. IMHO (In my humble opinion) It is the best of both worlds, I can set my own pace yet have information there or can go through their information to help guide me through the book if I so choose.

Exc may not take their history ,but you can goto the Ace website and see which classes they approve for credit and then confirm with the school.

If you in a hurry I'd search History Clep on forums to see which would suit you. Or if you have more time a local CC I'm sure offers some various History courses. (be sure of course to confirm the school you are wanting to graduate from will accept these)

my 2cents it sounds like Tx123 took some classes then looked to see where it would go, which I can understand the frustration ,but we are all adults here ,put the blame where it belongs. There are tons of threads on this forum helping to say what goes where or a phone call to the college could have avoided this.

I see that TESC accepts them. Seems like TESC is more liberal than EC at granting credit for ACE courses.

Yes they do and they accept most if not all of their credit too.

Try googling the questions in Calculus I, II, College Algebra, or any Physics Course and I bet you won't find anything.

I asked my advisor your question. I was told, as long as the SL course is ACE-approved at the time it is taken and fits into the degree plan, it will be accepted. Apparently this list is just out of date for the recently added courses:

Transfer College Credit for Online College Courses to Excelsior College - StraighterLine
AS in 2010 and BS in 2013 at Excelsior College - Transcripts and Costs
MS Biostatistics in 2019 at Texas A&M University - Graduate School

Sharing Credit-by-Exam* and Help for Veterans
Resources Used - 20+ Exams Passed & General GRE
Practice Tests - Available for CLEP and DSST
