Many Masters programmes will admit you on a scan of your transcripts and not require submission of your official transcripts until acceptance, so it could save you some money if you're applying to a few competitive masters programmes. However, you could probably do the same thing with an unofficial transcript and nobody would really care because it's unofficial anyway.

Agreed, which is why paying for five copies is a waste when one will suffice.
