? Excelsior focus requirements increased ?
#1
I emailed excelsior in regards to new requirements
for the focus on the Bachelor of Science Liberal Studies.
I was told a student must have a focus in 21 credits in
EITHER an applied science OR arts and sciences with
a minimum of 6 upper credits. The previous program
required a minimum of 12 credits in both applied sciences
AND arts and science with at least 3 upper credits in each.
I talked to an advisor and she didn't have any updated
Information. The material on their website has not been
updated.
Does any body know about this change?

I was not aware of a change either, but please recheck this for us.

Previously, 2 "Depths" were required for a BSLS - 9 LL and 3 UL credits each.

An "Area of Focus" was optional - 15 LL and 6 UL credits.

I think this may just be a miscommunication. Please double-check.

Good news! I just confirmed with my advisor that an Area of Focus is NOT required for new enrollees in the BSLS degree.

P.S. I am not sure what happened in this case, but I have noticed that posts on this forum sometimes use the word "focus" (21 credits - like a minor - optional) when they are really referring to "depths" (12 credits - 2 required).
