Advice on Psychology of Adulthood and Aging
#1
I was just wondering if anyone out there has any tips for PAA, such as areas to focus or anything that would be good to note. Basically, any tips are highly appreciated. ^^

Hi yumeji,

I am studying for this one right now also. I can share with you the areas that I'm focusing on and why. Along with the IC flashcards, I'm using the free examination guide at Excelsior's web site to see the percentage breakdown for subject matter on the exam. Cognitive Aspects; Biology, Phsyiology, Health and Chronic conditions; Work, Retirement, Leisure, and Relationships; and Mental Health, Adjustment, and Psycopathology are the sections with the largest percentage of questions. I also have a used text book. I don't have time to read/study the whole book so I am just reading the chapters that tie in with the areas of the exam, previously listed, that will have the most questions on the exam.

As far as I can tell, there isn't a practice exam for this one anywhere. I do have this link that a friend shared earlier that has some practice questions. They're for a different textbook but the subject is the same so its still helpful. Book Companion Site - Instructor

This may be overkill. I think that IC has been enough to pass every test I've taken. But these psych classes are part of my major so I'm trying to get the very best grade on them that I can. Hope this is a help. If you or someone else has some other tips, please let me know too. Smile

Happy studying!
Kate

I have taken this with a weeks study and only used IC, I earned an "A". I do recommend you do both the A&A of Aging and Gerontology IC cards. They overlap a LOT and will fill in any "blanks" that may exist between the two. Just my 2 cents. I believe I left fairly detailed feedback on the both of these, please check out the search function. Good luck! Lee

Librevore & Basket Weaver> Those were some great suggestions. By using Basket Weaver's earlier posts and Librevore's suggestions (and i want to thank you for that link), I was able to reach my "A". Now i am almost done ^_~
