I've been taking CLEPs (around 40 credits total) and am working toward my AA (I'm only 17 so I don't have much life experience.) I have to take math and ECE writing before I earn my AA through EC. I am not very good at college level writing nor higher levels of math. Math is self explanatory and I can build myself up to where I need to be. Writing for the ECE test is another story.
Does the "MY Access" that offers practice tests that grade you using the same algorithm that they use on the real test and the lessons work well? Does it need supplementation using the 3 books that excelsior offers?
I'd appreciate any input from people who are going to take the test or have taken the test

The UExcel College Writing test is similar to the ECE's writing portion (no multiple choice,) uses the same grading software that the ECE uses (The test was developed by the same people IIRC), and has the same MyAccess prep. It's also only 3 credits and only costs $85, substantially cheaper than the ECE.
You may get some info that you can use out of the
thread that I did from when I took the UExcel. WeAintGotNoBadges talks about his experience with the MyAccess software around page 2 or 3 I think.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

If you're not good at colllege writing you could take ENG101 at StraighterLine. If you spend a couple hours a day you can probably knock it out within a month which is, give or take, the time you would spend preparing for the CLEP.

Hmm.
I am not terrible, however a good portion of the share of papers I've written were/are not college grade(well a few I think). I'm not sure what would take longer, prepping for the CLEP or doing a local or possibly online course.
If the 90 day prep that offers practice exams and courses for Uexcel test are "good" then I could at least see where I am at with all of this and see if my writing structure would appease the algorithm(and hopefully real people looking for the same thing) when I really try to make a bland, uniform college paper.

Thanks a bunch!
I have to fly from the Big Island to Honolulu and that costs $200 to take my CLEPs.
I am going to enroll into Straighter Line now

You're welcome. If your schedule allows it perhaps you should enroll in a few other courses at StraighterLine. You'll be saving serious money on airfares!

All I'm doing is some occasional work to earn money,
CLEP's, chores, more chores(5 siblings make a lot of chores) and now I think 2-3 classes of straighter line
Well in a week since I'm taking a CLEP, I was going for two but I can't now..

I thought that MyAccess was a good deal for the price, Keep one thing in mind if you end up using it: it is software and so it grades you on form and structure, not factual accuracy. For instance you could make up your own percentage numbers in an argument paper and the software won't blink an eye (also 'cause it doesnt' have any
)
But then again, some have reported on this board having their UExcel exam going to human graders after all, so even if you don't sweat facts, keep your eyes on the ball (your score).
Good luck
W.
