Excelsior College | 1. Choose Your Exam
Exams that were $95 are now $110. The previously $395 exams are now a breathtaking $470.
And don't forget the sitting fees!

Don't forget that the cost does not include the Pearson VUE testing fees of $50-$60 per exam. So if you end up needing a retake, that's an additional $50-$60. So minimum for a 3cr course is $160-$170, but if you do the value package, it's $195-$205 per exam.
They are pricing themselves out of contention here, since there are so many other ways to get credit now (study.com can be used for a few of the more expensive UExcel courses for only $100).

Frankly, I find those prices rather shocking for credits you can achieve in many other ways, for the most part. I was investigating their Literacy in the Elementary School exam, but it's difficult to suggest to anyone that they take it for $470 +$60= $530. $88.33/ credit, oof.

Ouch! You'd be better off to take that as a course somewhere. Anywhere!

In fairness, I guess it looks like a bargain when the regular tuition rate is $510/ hour ($3060 total). :|

It seems like all of the "Big Three" are starting to forget that they are "distance" schools. They like to say how big a bargain they are compared to other schools. This may be true in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut. They are forgetting about the rest of us that don't live in those high cost areas. They have a national market, maybe they should remember that.

Yes. Those UExcel's may look like good pricing if you compare them to their own online courses, but certainly not when you decide to look out for something else to take anywhere in the US. There are too many great choices out there.

6 upper level credits for $530 ?
I don't think that's such a bad deal
one multiple choice exam, no papers to write, no forums to post on, no group projects
still sounds like a deal to me

I didn't realize that test in particular is 6cr - so that would equate to $265 for a 3-cr course/exam. Still not as cheap as other options, but less than PF now.
But the regular 3-cr course fees are high, and you can find most of those courses for less, so unless you really need that course, or a grade, I think EC priced themselves out.
