I've applied to Excelsior and I'm ready to enroll but I'm still weighing all of my options.
I've read all of the enrollment materials and fee schedules and this isn't clear: Does the initial enrollment fee include the first year's SSAF or is this separate?
So let's assume I enroll and have completed all the of the requirements for my BS in Liberal Studies...
Would the total cost of my degree be either:
a.
$75 application fee
$895 enrollment fee
$495 graduation fee
_____________
=$1465
OR
b.
$75 application fee
$895 enrollment fee
$440 SSAF
$495 graduation fee
____
=$1905
Can someone clear this up for me?

Congratulations on applying!
As far as I know, it is "A" - $1500 to apply, enroll, and graduate within one year.

Cool. So then the SSAF is only charged on the one-year anniversary of enrollment?

That is correct.
Also, if you're looking at taking classes directly through Exclesior, do a search on the forums for POAG (Peace Officers Association of Georgia) or there's another one that I forget the name, but its a tech group.
You can get cut-pricing on Enrollment, Graduation, and undergrad class costs ($130 for enrollment,$130 for graduation, & $250/credit hour for undergrad classes) but you have to take 12 credits through EC.
You can also sign up under the idea of taking the 12 credits and enroll for $130, and then tell them you've changed your mind, and just pay the balance of the full price for graduation. ($765 & $495.) I've heard of some students doing this to get enrolled for cheap, and then just paying the balance off when they go to graduate.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.
Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Thanks for the clarification.
I'm too far along with my undergraduate studies to need 12 credits through Excelsior, but wow. That sounds like a phenomenal money-saving oppurtunity!

The $897 is the enrollment fee for the first year. If that's a lot to dish out at once, EC does have a payment plan through FACTS Management. Basically, it costs an extra $25, and lets you spread out the payments over several months. I chose this route, since it just made the finances a little more manageable for me. As an added bonus, the entire enrollment fee, including the $25 payment plan cost, were all included on my 1098T from Excelsior...so I get to claim it all for taxes.

But wouldn't it be less then $1500, if Metadetroit enrolled at Excelsior with all her completed requirements and immediately applied for graduation? Doesn't the school give her an additional discount? I remember reading it on the forum somewhere.

After reading about a slightly different scenario*, I am the one that said this. I am hoping that it is true, but I still do not have proof. I will know in the next few weeks. I will update when I do. If it is not true, then there is no point in waiting until the very end to enroll. One could enroll earlier and get the benefit of about 1 year of advisement.
I am sorry for creating confusion on this with my wishful thinking. If anyone has additional information, please share.
* The different scenario was finishing credits shortly after being charged for a new year of the SSAF fee. It was applied toward the graduation fee instead.

I asked Excelsior and received a very clear answer about this.
Finishing all of the requirements for a degree BEFORE enrolling DOES NOT make anybody eligible for any type of reduction in enrollment or graduation fees.
I am sorry for causing confusion about this previously with my very wishful thinking. I should have known since I could not find it in their policies.
So, if you are within a year of graduation, there is NO financial reason to delay enrollment. By enrolling, you will have access to academic advisement and be able to make sure that you have all requirements met to graduate on schedule.
