The answer is at your finger tips (it's a yes for both)!
It's on the Straighterline website for equivalency, see link below.

I asked an advisor from Excelsior and received the following response, "We have accepted Straighterline credits in the past. However, we will not accept the core requirements through them including A&P, Microbiology, Lifespan Psychology, or Sociology. English is a requirement we have taken from them before. We advise waiting until enrolled to register for anything new you are trying to take outside of Excelsior. We will not give approval in the admissions phase for outside schools/credits. Once enrolled, an Academic advisor would work with you to give you the approvals. But again, this is a requirement we have accepted. We will only accept a max of up to 7 credits from straighterline towards the general education requirements, which would be a max of 2 courses total from them."

This is the first time I hear that Excelsior only accept 7 credits from SL. I already enrolled in the SL English composition course and I don't want to waste my time or money on tests that will not be accepted. Can anyone enrolled in Excelsior confirm for me if SL English composition satisfys their English requirement please.

I appreciate any help that you can provide.

With this news, as well as the cost factor, it sounds like they are taking themselves out of The Big 3, and we are down to The Big 2 at this point.

I am willing to bet that this admissions rep meant to say 7 COURSES, not 7 CREDITS.
Also, I applied back in December to EC and my Eng II was applied to my final evaluation.
COSC and TESU will be cheaper..if you are comparing the Big 3. In my opinion Smile

My son is enrolled at Excelsior and asked for course approval yesterday for Straighterline English. This was the advisor's response:

"This course will work for your Written English requirement so I have added the approval. Good luck!"

Before you pay the money and actually enroll it is harder to get information. After enrollment they are very helpful.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.
