Has anyone ever taken an Excelsior ECE ? I don't want to dish out 400 bucks for a test that is near impossible. I am thinking of taking Abnormal Psych or Psych of Adulthood and Aging. Have any of you been down this road and able to recommend or not recommend this approach? I have taken multiple DSST with much success, but now out of options.
Thank you

I'm wrapping up Abnormal Pysch at Study.com, $200 if you can do it in one month (very doable, is taking me less than 2 weeks and I'm doing all videos and study material offered --- plus, first 5 days is a free trial not counting towards your month). Though I haven't taken the final, it seems pretty easy and straight forward. And that $200 allows you to take a second exam for a different course of your choice if you can finish both in a month (no more than two, though).
Pretty cheap 6 credit option, seems more than doable.
Caveats: I've never taken any Excelsior exams, and I've yet to take the Study.com final.

Took lots of ECE/Uexcel. All doable. Harder than CLEP more in line with upper level DSSTs.

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun. Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior. And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

Thank you Denise. Didn't want to spend the time and money if it was an impossible test. I am new to the testing out world. I truly wish I would have given this a shot many years ago. So much time spent in 8 week and 3 month courses. I have knocked out 4 classes in the past month.

I've taken a few UEXCEL exams and found them fairly reasonable. Maybe slightly more difficult than the CLEP but it's not like I had to study for weeks for them or anything. I wish I'd taken some of the CLEP subjects I took, as UEXCEL instead ,to get grades. I've only taken business exams there though so can't comment on the psychology.

I would like to follow this thread too. Focusing on UExcels for grades and just starting out so any feedback would be helpful. Not sure what to expect. I also almost scheduled the Abnormal Psych exam but the price made me stop and think about it more before scheduling.

A lot of the Excelsior tests are $100 plus proctor fees, so I'd knock those out first.

Study.com is an alternative to some UExcels, but you don't get grades for them; also the number of credits, or UL/LL may be different. Here are the UExcel's that are expensive, and have study.com alternatives:
Anatomy & Physiology (LL for both, 3cr for study.com, 6cr for UExcel)
Microbiology (LL for both)
Abnormal Psychology (LL for study.com, UL for UExcel)
Lifespan Developmental Psychology (LL for both)
Obviously, there are additional alternatives for a lot of the UExcel via various methods (CLEP/DSST/SL, etc.).
The LL or UL is based on ACE recommendations, not on what they will be accepted by at various schools.

TESU accepts this as PSY-350: Abnormal Psychology, UL.
