Middle initial, name, or nada?
#1
Alright, I'm about to apply for graduation and I noticed I can use any name I want. The default on the form is just first and last. What's the consensus? Should I indicate my middle name somehow on the degree? I need the help of the forum for this one!

It's all personal preference, I would put whatever shows on my drivers license or any other ID i use, like my credit card.
They all reflect the same name for everything I use actually, so for example, I have first/middle and last name.
I don't use Mr for the prefix nor the Jr at the end for suffix, again personal preference, depends on your taste.

I say middle initial if your surname or full name is not rare. Maybe even whole middle name?

If it's not, then omit, especially if your name is long.

I tend to use my professional name on everything, makes life easier.

I too struggled with what to use. I opted for my full legal name---first, middle and last.

I decided to go with the full middle name. Living in Central America affected my decision as every single thing here uses all possible names, even the double last name method that is common for Latinos. Otherwise, I probably would have gone with the initial. Thanks everyone!

In other news, it's pretty crazy to me that I just applied for my college graduation. I never thought I'd see this day.

I went with my full legal name, which is kind of long.

It's nice. Seems regal ;p

When I got married, I changed my middle name to my maiden name, and then my husband's last name is mine. So, I would use my middle name, because I like it and it's my old last name. If I'd gotten my degree before I was married, I'd have used my first and last only, because I just NEVER used my middle name for anything, ever. My parents didn't use it when they yelled at me or anything. Big Grin
