I am thinking about taking this exam, but only if it's worth the many hours I might have to spend. I've read a few threads and I'm confused about whether or not Excelsior accept this as upper level credit. My understanding is that Intro to Statistics is LL, while the other two are UL... but someone mentioned their transcript said LL for Business Statistics.
I still need to get my quantitative reasoning requirement for Excelsior. Does anyone know if Business Statistics can fulfill the requirement? It would be perfect for me if I could do the following:
1. Fulfill my Excelsior math requirement (2 credits, this would be three)
2. Add on another upper level course
3. Get one of my MBA prerequisites done (Amberton requires an upper level undergraduate class on business stats. They are flexible and allow DSST/CLEP equivalents.
Any feedback or experience on this?
75 credits in four months using InstantCert.

For what it's worth:
EC approved ALEKS Business Stats for my Statistics requirement as a business major, in place of their recommended lower-level Business Statistics. They also approved me for Quantitative Methods, an upper-level Business Stats class. From this I infer that EC does not regard the ALEKS as UL.

Interesting. I wonder if, even though Excelsior regards it as LL, the graduate school might consider it UL as a prerequisite, since that's the ACE recommendation.

The idea of ALEKS Stats being awarded upper-level credit is new to me. I just found out about it last week!
I wonder if there is a difference between how it is awarded for Business degrees compared to Liberal Studies degrees.
Peace123 said the ALEKS Intro to Stats was upper-level credit for the BSLS that has just been completed. Here is the post:

I think this is great news! Who couldn't use 3 upper-level credits for $20? I am planning to try it. It's not that much risk, right? (Money no, but time could be a bigger risk.) ACE does say all 3 ALEKS Stats courses are upper-level, but Peace123 says you can only get credit for one because of duplication.
Any more input would be helpful.

Peace123 reconfirmed that ALEKS Intro to Stats is upper-level credit and fulfilled the quantitative reasoning requirement for a BSLS at Excelsior here:

If you need ALEKS Business Statistics for an MBA prerequisite, that should work for a BSLS at Excelsior, too, but I'm not sure what the MBA program would think. Check this post for Excelsior:

Interesting. I'm certainly not going to tell them they can't award me UL for it, I'll let folks know what they do.

From the Business Catalog (p30) -
Quote:Note: Some credit recommended as upper-level by ACE may not apply as advanced-level credit toward your business degree.
A course or examination used to satisfy a core requirement cannot be counted towards the advanced-level requirement. Thais means that the course that fulfills the core requirement of Production/Operations Management, for instance, will not be counted as advanced-level credit even if it is numbers at the junior or senior level at a four-year college.
Statistics is considered an Arts and Sciences core requirement for the business degree.
This restriction does not seem to appear for Liberal Studies/Specific LS Major degrees.

Thanks TMW2010 for looking this up. So there can be a difference between how credits are awarded for a business degree and how they are awarded for a Liberal Studies degree (with/without a major). That is good to know.

FWIW I just got ALEKS Business Stats added to my eval, and it is not listed as advanced-level credit.

Ok, this is weird. I just got my "unofficial summary" from EC and it does have Aleks Business Stats listed as 3 upper level Natural Sciences/Math credits for the BS Liberal Arts degree.
That's not to say they won't change their mind during the official credit eval but that's where it is as of today.
Can you appeal MISin08?
