Just knocked out PF Financial Mgmt and Aleks college algebra
#1
My day:
Woke up at 4:45 AM, had coffee, continued working on PennFoster Financial Management which I started on Tuesday along with Systems analysis and design (both finished except for the proctored final)

Finished Financial Management at about noon, had lunch, did laundry

Decided to go back into Aleks to take the assessment on College Algebra. I initially purchased Aleks only for statistics which is required for my BSBA but I still have the subscription so I figured what the heck.

No studying, using my knowledge of algebra and a LOT of google and mathway.com I ended up with a 79%!!!

Thats 3 credits the cheapest way possible and I got to brush up on algebra in the process.

This class will help fill out gen eds or help me if I want to do a TESC Math and Nat Sci dual major.

You are on fire!! Congrats!

As soon as the course is transferred to your ACE account, why not go back and hit up aleks for 3 more, take intermediate algebra (TESC/MAT115) you will definitely be awarded gened credits for that course as well.

I might just do that as long as I get credit for it why not.
I guess I could do precalc too right?
Its funny because I had calc I-III and differential equations in college and that was some hard stuff but of course thats when I was younger and it was all so fresh in my head. I'm almost 35 now and I took those calc courses when I was 18-20!

Yes, precalc is a required course for the BSBA but since you already have calculus it filled that slot. Anywho, yes you can still take precalc and intermediate algebra to fill the gened or mat/natsci categories(assuming you still have empty slots).

ryoder- I am wondering about the process for transferring your Aleks courses to ACE. Was each math course a separate transaction on a separate transcript with ACE --- or will ACE hold one transcript so you can have multiple courses put on one transcript? How does that work? Can you explain the process you went through for some of us that will be going through that shortly. Thanks! Smile

When you get past 70 on your assessment you login to the ace site (create an account for I think 30 bucks if not a member) go to course search, type in ALEKS as the organization name, click on the relevant course and choose add to transcript.
They will put that course in the pending state for about 24 hours. Once it gets approved you will get an email and when you login you will see it added on your transcript! Its a great feeling.

Then and only then, you go back into ALEKs under the master account, edit the student account you have been working under and change the course to something else like Business Stats. When you login as the student you will be assessed again.

I did this for intro to stats, business stats and just the other day, college algebra. I have 9 college credits for two months of ALEKs. I could have done college algebra the first month but sort of forgot about ALEKs. Its a great deal.
