Ever been upset about pushing a test date back once, or even twice?
#1
This is my second time rescheduling my test for DSST Financial Accounting.. I had it originally scheduled for two days ago, Tuesday, but didnt get any study material in the mail until last Saturday which only left me with 2-3 days of studying. I rescheduled it for tomorrow, Friday, but with the book "The accounting game" and 1/2 of the REA book read, i feel way unprepared.. haven't even had time to look through IC or take PT's.. So i rescheduled again for next week..

I know that 1 week study for a whole course is risky enough as it is, and two weeks is still in good timing, but a part of me is upset because I've set a personal goal of 1 a week, and for the past two months I have met my goals. Now i know 1 more week, in reality, really isn't bad at all.. but a part of me feels like i should have winged it with what i knew, crammed what i could tonight and take a chance..

Im just wondering if anyone else out there has personal experiences with rescheduling a test, and having it save them from failing, or if they winged it with what they knew and it worked in their favor.

Bottom line.. I think i have to accept the fact that one extra week of studying to pass is worth not failing and waiting 6 months for a re-take.. No matter how hard I'm pushing myself to get my BSBA as soon as possible.

I'm sure someone has an interesting story relating to this Smile

I pushed back on the UExcel writing test about 10 times. I write really well. However, they want it done a specific way. So, rather than risk it (as it is a graded test), I kept pushing it after it had been scheduled. My final reschedule is for next month, but I have set aside time to work on it prior to the test.

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun.   Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior.  And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

I had to reschedule a test a few weeks ago due to a family emergency and re-scheduled for today. My work schedule changed and wasn't able to get in the studying that I wanted to before my test today. I felt pretty good going in, but I failed by 2 points. Now I have to wait 6 months and I wasted $80. I wish I had rescheduled and wasted $25 today and got the additional studying in.

Always overstudy. Take a vacation day off of work if you have to, but overstudy.

I just rescheduled the Middle East test that I was supposed to take tomorrow. I felt completely unprepared, and since I am almost done, I didn't want to wait 6 months if I failed. Some subjects may require more time than you allotted, and that's okay. Don't beat yourself up about it, especially as this was more of a "life getting in the way" situation than a "hard time learning material" situation.
I panic quite frequently that I may not pass. It seems that I never quite feel ready enough. In fact, I used to wait until I felt ready before scheduling. That's why I have been testing out for 3 years instead of maybe 18 months. Today was the only time scheduling before feeling ready backfired on me. The testing center is closed until Jan 14th. I was going to do Straighterline over break but it now looks as though I will be continuing to study sultans, oil, and all those unfamiliar names that all look the same after a while. Smile

I've only had this kind of situation once; on my first clep! I had studied a $30 textbook and felt comfortable with my practice test scores. I found out about IC a day or two before my test date (which I had two schedule 2 weeks in advance). I also took yet another practice test which I bombed. As I started looking through the flashcards my confidence was totally shaken; but I didn't want to reschedule another two weeks out. I crammed. On my test day I forgot my ID shortly after leaving home and had to add 20 minutes to backtrack. (I don't live very close to a test center.) I make it to the test center and sign my check with a shaking hand! (only time anything like that has happened to me so far). I agonized over that test. The clock ran out as I re-reviewed. I almost didn't click submit, but I did; I just had to know... My Score: 58 (my lowest score so far).

After this I found 2 nice test centers where I could schedule only two days out.
I have never rescheduled an exam because of my lack of prep; only things like ice-storm, no working car, illness, etc.
My advice: RESCHEDULE!!! Even though I passed I don't want to go through that kind of stress again.

What is your goal? A degree? Or a degree quickly? You might find that your foundation of knowledge in an area isn't as deep as you'd expected, so you will need to study more. Or a topic won't be as easy for you to learn and comprehend as you thought it would be, so you will need to study more. Then, there's life. It happens. It can get in the way of our plans. You seem to have a really good plan of attack for your degree, so don't beat yourself over the head if there are some unexpected detours. Learn from them and carry on. Good luck.
