What I mean is. The topics I saw in practice and the one I got on the real exam was a challenge to take a position on something. Mine was neccessities and whether it affects something. So if you run in to a topic you like and have a great deal of info on or feel like you can write about. Write the essay with minimal outline. If they stump you a little back off and outline then write it.
You have got 40 minutes plus the 5 you leave for proofreading or less to proofread if your grammar is exceptional. I think my essay was the best thing I did on the exam. One more thing. to practice just think of a subject you could write a 6 page letter on. For me it was the health and fitness affects of fiber on a diet gives me the good feeling. Then try something you avoid whatever gives you the bad feeling. When you look at the question on the actual test, you will get one of those feelings and at least know which method you need to use.
All the best.
