Education Portal set to charge from Tomorrow!

bricabrac Wrote:As a beta subscriber (which you are considered if you received the email) click on the basic account. On the create your account screen look to the right to see the 30.00 discount, monthly total 19.99

I plan to take advantage of the site for the trial period and cancel a few days before end of promo.

I was never a beta subscriber. Oh, well. I couldn't sit through their videos anyway.

I guess I'm the only one the videos helped. I would NEVER have passed the Biology CLEP without EP. I just can't fathom staring at a book all night after staring at my computer screen all day and night. LOL. I was thankful for a break and since I'm a strong aural learner, I was happy with the videos. But, I do think those prices are too high. It won't take long for them to figure out their supply and demand.
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

I just signed up for the free trial, I need some light entertainment while studying Smile This is obviously a market test with two different pricing structures, not many of us on Degree forum are going to pay $99 a month when we can get Instantcert for $19.00 or less in some cases. however I still haven't explored it real well. The course tracking is only available for the Premium package. Its great that someone wants to monetize their work and the market will sort out if it really is worth handing over cash. I can see College Plus type people who paid $3000 for the information that's free on this forum handing over $99 a month for reasonable quality video presentations. I wonder will the videos now play without stalling like they have done so often during the BETA testing phase. I'll see what I can learn during the six months starting today and see if it would be worth investing into further.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

I find the Annenberg videos to be more entertaining, but they aren't good for every subject. According to Education-Portal, the $100 option is the more popular one. I wonder if that's true or just a marketing gimmick.

I'm surprised that they made this decision already considering some of their subjects are not fully developed yet.

I do like their videos, but won't be paying for them. Plenty of free resources out there.

If you want to keep bashing CP, go over to the appropriate thread and I'll see you there. FYI, they don't just shell out money for stuff, they're thrifty and want to save. Most CP students I know aren't planning on paying for EP.

Kind of sounds like they could be looking to grab some of the CP market with the premium membership featuring "Personalized Coaching and Access to Instructors"

You might be right and of course there are those who want their religion at home and their education separate so there is possibly a market there for that. I've had multiple streaming issues on their beta site we'll see what happens on the "live site" now with less access to free stuff for those who haven't already registered.
