Today was my last day to register for the free six month period. Not only have I finished all my exams, but I have now finished (and been graded for) my Capstone!!! Needless to say, I have no more exams to study for at this point. However, as an instructional designer, I decided to take the six month trial (I can also show it to others that way). I wonder if they will try going the Straighterline route. If you could just get credit for their courses that would be great. Also, FYI, I signed up for the $99 plan (I think maybe they're basing their pricing on Straighterline, but their courses haven't been worth college credit--at least not in the past). At any rate, I used a Staples rebate credit card that has less than that amount on it and expires before the six month period. It took the number and although I will try to remember to cancel in time, if I don't they will simply try to charge an expired card (that I have no plans to renew), so there is no chance of my getting charged. I realize this is somewhat of a special circumstance, but this is a great use for either a temporary credit card, or one that will be expiring that you don't plan to renew. Just a thought.

The only issue is that you entered into a contract, Can it reflect bad on your credit for not honoring the contract?
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum :
InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

I am guessing that the only way it can reflect badly is if I actually order something I don't pay for--which I have no intention of doing. There currently are no charges due. There won't be any charges due for six months, I have no intention of incurring any charges, so what is there to reflect badly? When you sign up it even says you won't be charged at the time, nor will you be charged unless you are still a member after the six month period is up--which I won't be. I am merely ensuring that I won't be a member after the six month period is up--whether I remember to cancel or not. Of course I assume that once the six month period is up, whether I remember to cancel or not, once they attempt to charge my card and are unsuccessful I won't be a member and will lose access to the service, but that's only fair. Does that make sense?
