Thanks, I will look at that also, I am fairly strong at writing when I actually try. Are the writing tests multiple choice also, other than the project?

Also, my understanding is that one can take as many courses as wanted.....but only 2 exams (or 70 after that for an add-on). Is my thinking correct? As in, if you go through a 3rd course, and feel ready to exam, just pay 70 and finish?

Yes. With the College Accelerator plan you get two tests per month. All additional tests during the month are $70. That is why I like Study.com. You can go through the material for your study.com tests and look at material for DSST tests.

You also access to all Study.com lessons. My son is in middle school. He got a big kick out of looking at some Astronomy videos. They also have middle school/high school level classes. If your child needed homework help with pre algebra or something you have access to all that stuff as well.

Are there any other kinds of courses that fill an info lit?

I finished the vietnam course yesterday, going to study and then take the exam this weekend!

Not decided on the 2nd course yet. I will need to the fill the info lit one way or another, but I think I might have to do another humanities or social science for TESU also, so that's an option.

The Info Lit area has all of the courses that will work: Thomas Edison State University | General Education - 2016 or After

Can anyone tell me....can I cancel my account (in my free trial), and then call them with the "refer a friend" email to get the discount?

ndelcollo Wrote:I would say the easiest is probably Study.com since you only need a 55% on the final once you complete all the quizzes at 100%. I have no experience with Straighterline though. The cheapest is still Shmoop, I believe.

So with 100 on every little quiz, you have to get a 55 or better on the final to pass?

I personally don't recommend shmoop. The way they teach and ask questions about what they teach is extremely difficult to grasp. I barely got through History 1 and 2, I am slacking on starting the Modern European History because it was so bad. I understand why they format the questions the way they do. They don't want you to just google every answer and walk away with credit. But they still make the questions more Interpretive/English related then History related. Maybe they should consider proctoring the final so they can change it up a bit, but personally I though about canceling my membership and taking the CLEPs. If you want PM me and I can give you an example of what your looking at if you take shmoop courses

This is correct as long as the course doesn't include any essays or projects. Most of the courses marked at lower level (101, 102 and so on...) that I've seen do not include any special assignments. The only two I've seen with anything extra is the Public Speaking 101 and the Spanish 105 course. The History "306" type courses with those numbers definitely do have assignments. The way to check is to go to the syllabus of each course and see what it says in the grading breakdown. If the breakdown only includes quizzes and the final then there are no extra assignments. These courses have a total of 150 possible points and you need 105 to pass the course. The quizzes will give you 50 points so the final only needs 55 to reach the passing point.
