I'm considering enrolling in one of the 3 schools, not necessarily to earn my degree there, but to earn some transfer credits.
Does the transcript state that credit is from an exam?
For example, if I were to take the Biology CLEP, and I applied it at COSC, would my transcript show that I earned CLEP credit, or would I have credit for "General Biology" (or whatever the corresponding course is titled)?
Thanks

I posted the same question (essentially) twice (got cut off and thought the first didn't go through), and I can't delete it. Sorry!

I can't speak for TESC or COSC, but Excelsior's transcript does indeed state that the credit is from an exam, and does include the numerical score you received. It would look like:
CLEP SUBJECT EXAMS
(55)General Biology............6CR-...........Pass
(52)Natural Sciences.........6CR.............Pass
But that is just an example I typed out, just to give you a general idea. Hope that helps.

No, no, no. You are adding a middle man where one isn't necessary.
CLEP/DSST credit issued is up to the school that grants your degree- so even if you get it on your transcript from Charter Oak, your actual school will apply their own policy.
Also, CLEP/DSST will make a transcript for you automatically. When you apply to the college you want to earn your degree from, you pay $20 to College Board for an official transcript- they send it to your school (who will do an evaluation of your scores).
You are making it more expensive and time consuming than necessary- and you may end up with big problems. Please, use the CLEP policy of the college you plan to graduate from- you can't launder credits.
Finally, CLEP credit is held for 20 years and you DO NOT have to be a student ANYWHERE to take the exams. They are open to the general public.

Perfectly put!

My transcript from my B&M college says "TR-EXAM", which means they considered it transfer credit. Every college is different, though.
