Hey all,
I'm trying to help a friend of mine. Has anyone done a masters degree at ENEB? Is it useful at all for contractor jobs after leaving/retiring? Any help or information is appreciated, thanks!

ENEB has very limited utility. It depends on what exactly you are asking.

I'm not military and don't know all the ins and outs, so I apologize if I misspeak or ask something really stupid. But if my friend got a Masters from ENEB, would it help with promotions or obtaining contractor jobs after she finishes? Will the degree be recognized and accepted?

Likely not as it is not accredited by the Department of Education. For goverment jobs, it's probably close to useless. For contractor jobs, it depends on the company and the job (but likely has very limited utility). If your friend is military (as am I), point them towards TESU, WGU, or UMPI for a degree. They are very military friendly schools with great options for active duty. I knocked out two bachelors degrees and a master's degree all using Navy Tuition Assistance within two to three years time.

I would not suggest ENEB for your friend. The only thing it has going for it is the low cost. It’s great for general learning (although there’s plenty of free resources for that). It can be a nice “second” degree. But it would not be widely recognized or accepted. That said, what do you mean by “contractor” jobs? Like construction? Or a contracted service like a business consultant? Promoted where? What field? Too many unknowns in your question. There have been unique situations where ENEB is helpful, but it’s not the best option for most.

By contractor, I mean civilian jobs on military bases abroad. Sorry if that's the wrong term, that's how they refer to those at my local Navy and AF base in JP. My friend is wanting to work overseas (on base) after her service ends so I thought maybe a Master's would help, but I wasn't sure ENEB was the answer.

Okay. I thought maybe she could take it to one of those and finish a bachelors quickly or use validential to have it recognized as a full masters, but I don't want to suggest something that will be either useless or a huge hassle. I appreciate your response

That's what I would recommend as well, a recognized RA degree instead of something you would need an evaluation for. There are a few degree options for her, she can complete 90+ credits using alternative credit providers we recommend and finish the final 30 from TAMUC, UMPI, or something. Having said that, she need to fill in the addendum and template, so we know a bigger overview of her scenario and what previous credits she currently has, budget, commitments, study habits, and so on...
