EC LA498 Capstone - Questions Regarding Essay Assignments

Hi All...My upcoming attempt at EC's LA498 Capstone is looming, and I'm trying to prepare by deciphering the Capstone's syllabus assignments. I think I have the first assignment - Global Issues, under control, but I'm not having much success with my next challenge - the Ethics Essay.

Any input would be very, very, very appreciated.

[COLOR="#0000FF"]Self-Evaluation of Ethics Outcome Essay - demonstrate how you have met the ethics outcome through past coursework or work experiences.

Define an ethical issue you either encountered or studied in a previous course.
Write down what "ethical conduct in decision making/ethical conduct in action - social responsibility in decision making/social conduct in action you SPECIFICALLY used when working through this ethical issue.
You need to write an essay that "exhibits the issue and how you used ethical conduct".[/COLOR]

As I mentioned, I'm at a complete loss as to what is required - a personal ethical issue, if so, what on earth would fill a 1250+ word essay? Would something from a Business Ethics text apply here - write about an ethical business model or the ethical model of a company you admire? How about an ethical issue you feel strongly about?

Again, any clues would be tremendously helpful. EC has free access to Smarthinking tutors - I'm thinking of heading over there to see if they can enlighten me - just wondering if they will help with assignments for a class I'm not yet taking!:willynilly:

No luck with the Smarthinking tutor - she didn't understand the assignment either, as the instructions do indeed seem contradictory. Her only suggestion was to see if a prof. or dept. head would let me see the actual assignment - don't think I'll attempt that!

I'm just looking for anyone who has taken EC's LA498 to clarify the "Ethics Essay" assignment listed in my previous post. After days of research/contemplation I'm going with finding any personal issue that contains the four ethical concepts mentioned and how I utilized those concepts with regards to the ethical issue????

Have you contacted your instructor for more instructions? The paper is asking for you to write about an ethical issue you encountered or studied in a previous course. Then to discuss the ethical conduct in decision making, ethical conduct in action, social responsibility in decision making, and social responsibility in action that was used to work through the ethical issue.

For example, in the writing courses you've taken in college plagiarism is an ethical issue you should have studied; you could write about that. Also in the psychology courses you've taken in college you should have explored the "Little Albert" experiment, and the ethical issues that surround that experiment due to the fact that Albert gave no consent for the experiment to take place; it changed the way psychological research was done. There's a lot a research and discussion on the ethical issues surrounding "Little Albert." This is just two small examples of ethical issues you should have explored during your college career.

The capstone course generally just explores topics that you've learned in other courses.

Thanks so much for the input, I really appreciate the advice...My first thought regarding the ethics essay was actually "plagiarism" - so I'll stop overthinking the issue:willynilly:, and concentrate on that topic...

If you've read my previous posts you'll have noted that I'm not yet enrolled in the Capstone...As I have a lot of trouble "writing on demand":willynilly:, I thought I'd do a little pre-Capstone prep - studying the available syllabus and thinking about possible topics for the various essays was one of my priorities...
