EC History Major Plan Advice
#1
I have been at this for a while and since I started they changed the requirement for the BSLS History Major requirements.

I need to know your opinions or any experiences that would have shown this to work.

1. Foundational
>CLEP US History I
>CLEP US History II
>CLEP Western Civ I
>CLEP Western CIv II

2. US History
>DSST (UL) Civil War & Reconstruction
>DSST (LL) History of the Vietnam War

3. European History
>DSST(UL) Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union
>DSST(LL) Western Europe Since 1945

4. Non-Western History
>ECE(UL) World Conflicts Since 1900
>DSST(LL) Intro to the Modern Middle East

5. LA498HIS

Any comments are appreciated!!!

I hope you will hear from a current student who is working on this.

Keep an eye out for a new catalog. It seems like one is due soon to get policies up-to-date.

I considered switching to this major. From what I know, you will need a total of 18 UL credits for this major.

One of the Western Civilization tests must be something in World History instead, according to the catalog.

I was told that Vietnam War DSST is US History, but this link and the catalog seem to be saying otherwise. You'll need to ask an advisor about that one again.

I was also told the World Conflicts ECE is only a history elective (see catalog).

It looks like the American Dream ECE is not available. This can make a big difference in getting enough UL credit (18 needed) for a history major at EC. Also, check to see if Ohio U has any exams available for this degree:

I am going to go ahead and enroll in January. I will be getting the ASLS first. But I will find out what is and isn't acceptable to them soon. They really should make it clear and that would increase enrollment. I appreciate all the help. I am also looking at BYU for two UL courses and that and I think that would do it.
