Trying to figure out my depth at EC,not enrolled so no help there yet. I have 2 possibles...The first being CJ..I just need one UL, I want an exam not a course, the only 2 possibles I have found are ECEs..one in juvenile delinquency(listed as a SOC course) the other Ethics which is a Phil course but a core for the major. The second is to do it in History..I have US Hist 1 and 2...I have an American Goverment (POL Sci) I would like to use...if not I will need to pick up another LL...what I dont know is if I can go with ANY Hist class or if it has to be American Hist..My UL is covered (or will be) with Civl War.
Any and all info,suggestions welcome.
PS to clarify I have one depth completed, trying to suss the other one.

I think it can be any LL history, unless you are specifically pursuing an American History major? DSST History of the Vietnam War or Western Europe since 1945 might do it. I will send an email to my adviser and find out for sure--will report back.

Sounds like if you decide to go with history, you may not need another LL exam- but if you do, you could take a CLEP (Western Civ?) and would be much cheaper than an ECE for CJ. Plus, CLEP would be easier than the ECE, and is pass/fail instead of a letter grade. Just a thought.

I received a reply the next day, then forgot to update this thread with the answer for any lurkers. So, here's what they said:
Hi Alissa,
Thank you for the compliments. I will be sure to pass them on to the advising team!
I hope the following will answer your questions:
U.S. History I CLEP (applies to depth as lower level)
U.S. History II CLEP (applies to depth as lower level)
DSST Civil War & Reconstruction- (applies to depth as upper level)
DSST Rise & Fall of the Soviet Union (applies to depth as upper level)
------Depth complete after Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union-----------
DSST History of the Vietnam War (applies to depth as lower level)
DSST Western Europe since 1945 (applies to depth as lower level)
CLEP Western Civ. I (applies to depth as lower level)
------------Area of Focus complete---------------------------------------
You would only need to take Western Civ. I to complete your area of focus as at this point, you would have 21 semester hours. You could take Western Civ. II if you wanted as the credit would apply to your need for lower level credit in the arts and sciences or you could chose to complete this credit in another academic area.
CLEP Social Sciences & History- This will not apply to depth/area of focus as both are required to be more specific than this general exam will allow for. However, these credits can go toward your need for lower level arts and science credit. It's up to you if you want to take it or not. As always, be sure to get official approval before taking any courses or exams.
I hope that this information is helpful. Good luck with the exams!
Best wishes,

Hi! I am interested in completing an Area of Focus in History to satisfy my second depth requirement. I plan to take Rise & Fall of the U.S.S.R next. Do the following exams qualify?
Completed:
U.S. History I CLEP
U.S. History II CLEP
Social Sciences & History-Completed but they misspelled my name which is why you guys don't have it yet, I will remedy that very soon!
DSST Civil War & Reconstruction
Up next:
DSST Rise & Fall of the Soviet Union
DSST History of the Vietnam War
DSST Western Europe since 1945
CLEP Western Civ. I & II
Do these exams fit for a History Depth? I am not sure I want to take the CLEP Western Civ. ones if I can nab letter grades for the DSSTs.
Thank you very much for all your efforts! You guys are doing great work!
~Alissa
I hope this helps anyone who is going to go for a history depth! Good luck Blitz!
