I can't believe it's been so long since I logged on here! Anyhow, my boyfriend took an executive position in the pacific north-west, so we made the long drive up here from the southwest over labor day weekend. We are in a hotel (provided by the company) until we find permanent housing, but will need to return to the southwest this month to collect our other belongings and move them up here either via PODS or a U-Haul.
I plan to continue working towards my BA at TESC. I have 9.33 credits to complete my degree requirements, and still need an additional 8.67 more to meet the residency requirements on the pay per credit plan.
I do have some good news though which may someday be helpful to someone else. The Dept of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) in New Mexico had agreed to pay about $2,500 towards the testing, books, and courses ($1,560 Capstone) needed to complete my degree prior to knowing I was moving. This was to be broken into payments for two semesters. Once my significant other accepted the job offer I called DVR to let them know I was going to be moving, but had to leave a message. I spoke to my contact there a few days ago and was told that even with moving out of state - DVR will honor the agreement and pay for both semesters! The move is going to put me a bit behind, but I'm hoping to graduate next summer. I'm also planning to get in gear and apply for disability... which probably should have happened ages ago.
If anyone lives up in this part of the country, let me know! I'll be living between Portland and Seattle, but may end up traveling to Portland pretty regularly.
