Here is a list of all of the tests, including GRE's, that they accept. http://www.charteroak.edu/Current/Academ...r-list.pdf With the combination of their new lowered cost and the fact that they're the only one of the big 3 that still accepts GRE's, it could make for a very affordable degree.

That might seriously make us switch from excelsior to charter oak.
Oldest ds is saying he wants to get an English literature degree. Accepting the English lit gre for up to 18 credits as long as he gets 40th%tile could be a huge deal.

Keep in mind that COSC requires 30 UL credits, with 15 of those in the concentration. I don't think this would be difficult, especially considering the GRE's, but you would want to consider this as well.

A strategy might be to complete ALL OF your UL credits before taking the GRE. You'd have a better knowledge base going into GRE prep.

You would just need to check with your advisor to see if any of your current UL credits would overlap with the UL's they give you on the GRE. I don't think that they would, but you never know.

Honestly I hadn't really looked at COSC prior to this...
I'm going to have to look into what a bachelors in English degree plan would look like from there.. Anyone btdt already?

From the COSC site for an English concentration: The GRE Subject Test in Literature, evaluated at 18 credits (15 lower, 3 upper), plus 18 credits, approved by the faculty, beyond the lower level, and at least 12 of which must be upper level. Introductory English and American Literature courses or CLEP*tests will be duplicative. Literature Concentration (Major) at Charter Oak State College

Since there are a lot of CLEP options in English, i.e., Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, British Literature and American Literature (all 6 credits each), I don't see why someone would take the Literature GRE for ane qual number of credits if they didn't have to.

Maybe for the UL credits? Even if the LL would duplicate those tests, it could be worth it for the UL.
