I logged in to my first TESU class, and the first week is halfway done. I'm supposed to make and post a video this week. Is there in a penalty for being late on an assignment? I am use to WGU, where you basically do things whenever you want. Now, I am already behind schedule. They have an entire 12 week schedule of when things need to be done. Can I go faster, or slower?

You need to follow the schedule for TESU classes. Submitting assignments after the deadline can result in losing points on your grade.

Yes, TESU is definitely not on your own schedule. If you ever DO find yourself having to miss a deadline, be sure to email the mentor well before you actually miss it. If you do, the mentor has full discretion to accept it late. Once you are late without notice, school policy requires the mentor to dock points.

When you start a TESU course, you can see the entire list of assignments that need to be completed.
You can work ahead as much as you want; however, I would not turn in multiple assignments before the deadline because professors usually want you to incorporate their feedback into your next assignment, which can help you earn a higher grade. Exams will open on certain dates.
I usually suggest working a week or two ahead to reduce stress. Personally, with citations and research, I can write about 500 words an hour, so assignments did not take me much time. Forum posts I could finish in 30 minutes to an hour, including two responses.
If you submit an assignment after the deadline, you can lose points. I have seen some people in classes do nothing and then turn in a bunch of assignments toward the end of the term. Also, if you message the mentor, you can usually get a deadline extension if you have a good reason.
Making a spreadsheet of everything you have due also helps keep things organized.
